Does your cassette deck have a headphones socket? If so try plugging the cassette deck end of the cable into that.

Re: timing lag & error

Please post in the correct forum for your operating system and version of Audacity, so that we know those for sure. I created 140 bpm and 280 bpm click tracks underneath each other in 1.3.12 and they synchronise perfectly throughout. To fix the problem that your sound device is recording at a differ...

Re: Tone Arm weight....

If there was a Manual with the turntable, take a look in it to see if the weight is adjustable. Otherwise, cartridge weight on record players is usually controlled by a a counterweight on the end of the arm. If there isn't a counterweight, you probably can't adjust the weight in any officially appro...

Re: Export Multiple Fails

Are you using 1.3.12 or 1.3.13 Alpha? You can check that at Help > About Audacity. Do I assume then there is no error message when the unexpectedly small files are exported? After you press "Export", there should be a dialogue that lists the results of the export. Can you provide a screens...

Re: user created problem

Assuming you are referring to Audacity 1.2.6 on WIndows, try the "safe solution" in the green panel here to reset the Audacity Preferences. If that does not help, please post a screen shot of what you are seeing in Audacity (use "Upload attachment" underneath the "Preview&qu...

Re: audio into computor

Plug into the line-in of the computer (usually blue) and select line-in as the input in Audacity. See:

Re: How to change Win 7 default volume when ripping LPs?

If your are connecting the recording to the computer via the USB cable then the motherboard sound device is not involved except for playback. You won't be able to hear the audio in the computer as it's being recorded unless you set the "Playback Device" in Audacity Devices Preferences to y...

Re: Use environment variables in the audacity.cfg file?

I need to set audacity to default to certain directories (i.e. not going to the program files when you go to File --> Open for the first time). For example I'm trying to do something like this: TempDir=%TMP%audacity_temp PresetsDir=%APPDATA%RoamingAudacitypresets DefaultOpenPath=%HOMEDRIVE%My Music...
