Re: Input Channels Question/problem
Window 7 does appear to be different. I downloaded Audacity 13 to my laptop running Win 7 with the same result. Guess I will have to wait until a more compatible version of Audacity is written. What you need to do is read the link Steve gave: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=Windows_Vis...

Re: enable software playthrough and I can't record
Autark, I tried your patch on Win 7 and Ubuntu and it seemed to work and not cause problems (though on Windows the 100ms default Audio to Buffer Preference setting is *more* demanding than the default we force with software playthrough, so your patch would ask more of the hardware on Windows, not le...

Re: can not import audio files
Once Benjamin supplied the ffmpeg5 patch I could run its autogen.sh, run ./configure --disable-dynamic-loading and compile Audacity OK. The Ubuntu FFmpeg was detected and the Libraries preferences buttons for FFmpeg greyed out as expected. The Libraries preferences buttons for MP3 are not greyed and...

Re: Clipfix (see waveform pic) - plugins available?
I'll download the 1.3.12 version, but when I go to the Help/About Audacity menu, it says I have version 1.3.5. Will I be going backwards? Or is that version a misprint? 12 is a greater number than 5, so yes 1.3.12 is a later version than 1.3.5. If I had written 1.3.1.2, then it would be earlier tha...

Re: audio into computor
If the cassette tape is only speech/ low quality you can record it into the computer by putting the tape deck close to the internal microphone and record from that source (or plug a mic into the mic port of the computer and put the mic by the tape deck).

Re: Measure BAr
I was wondering if there was anyway to keep time whilst makign an audiotrack like could one substitute a measure bar for the time bar at the top so one can tell what measure you are on instead of how long the track is Generate > Click Track which creates something like a metronome or beat track. Re: Sliding Pitch and Time Crash
In all likelihood I will submit the new imminent release (I have not been idle but am still reluctant to wrap up). I will take this deadline seriously regardless. Just to keep things up to date, Michael has done a hack fix to potentially fix Bug 172 - see r10820 . Not tested yet by anyone except Mi...

Re: Clipfix (see waveform pic) - plugins available?
Downloaded the plugin, unzipped it, put it into the C:Program FilesAudacityPlug-Ins directory, then restarted Audacity, but no luck. It's not on the Effects menu. I checked the folder, and clipfix.ny is right there along with the other 14 plug-ins. Restarted Audacity again, and again. Still no luck...

Re: Lame download problems
I cannot download the Lame file from the page provided by links on Audacity. I get a page saying "403 Forbidden". I tried searching for it and have found versions that I am able to download. However, when I try using them I get an error message from Audacity saying that it is the wrong ve...

I'm new to home recording. Have Fostex digital recorder - manual says download .wav file from Fostex. Done. Downloaded Audacity. Done. Selected Audacity to 'operate .wav file - received error message. Any insight? thanks WAV files produced by digital recorders are not always PCM uncompressed WAV bu...
