Re: Export with external encoder examples (Windows)

To just use the command on Windows (without giving a path to the encoder), you'll need to have installed the Lame or FFmpeg binaries in their default location in "Program Files" so as to create a Windows registry setting that Audacity will look for as the location of the encoder. Here are ...

Re: FFMpeg

With an un-patched svn build I'm not getting Audacity to recognise FFmpeg at all (thought that might have changed by now). An unpatched svn build of Audacity should recognise FFmpeg 0.5 from Spring 2009, or a later library or package from that year (as it says in the Manual ). The FFmpeg version su...

Re: FFmpeg

What patches, workarounds and jumping through blazing hoops are currently required to make Audacity svn trunk work with FFmpeg on Linux? Have you tried looking at previous posts? It's certainly confusing. You need "ffmpeg-av-match-ext.patch" from http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.ph...

Re: Waveform Clipping

USB turntables almost never come with special drivers and if there are none on the CD that includes Audacity then I doubt any special drivers will be installed. If that's the case, all Windows will do is install the device so that it appears in Windows Device Manager and register Microsoft generic U...

Re: Record Append

From Private messages Is there any way to use record append with with some kind of lead in? Do you have to start the record append at precisely the spot where you ended your last record? Append Record in Audacity Beta records at the end of the selected tracks. If you want a "lead-in" you ...

Re: Audacity exports empty wav/mp3/etc

I've no idea why it would be platform-dependent. From Bruno's description, I thought it was something to do with bug 152 , but the only way I can find to export that project satisfactorily on Win 7 (even after restart) is to remove the track that has the glitch. I had tried silencing the glitch then...

Re: Spoken movie subtitles?

All right, Gale, you win :) Thank you for editing of the Wiki page I created and adding all details. Everyone on the Wiki is subject to "merciless editing" ;) , but I just thought your page should be as simple as possible and assume the user has minimal knowledge to begin with. I have som...

Re: Vista HP + Realtek = no signal from the mixer

basically the topic says it all; on Vista Home Premium ( Acer 6930G), with Realtek sound drivers, the mixer properly set up ( so I believe), yet when in Audacity I set the Recording Device to be the Realtek HD stereo mixer, press Record and then press Play in Winamp, Audacity does not seem to read ...

Re: Motu 896 firewire multichannel interface

I'm trying to get Audacity to work with my Motu 896 AD/DA interface via FireWire, but it keeps warning me there is an error with the input settings. In 'preferences' i have set the number of input channels to 8 and both the Motu as well as the recording quality menu in Audacity are set to 24bit/96K...
