Re: MP3 Export Anomaly - Developer Comments?
This has now been fixed in our source code and was only an issue on Windows. When 1.3.13 Beta is released, the "Joint Stereo"/ "Stereo" radio buttons will now be enabled when encoding with a preset. "Joint Stereo" or "Stereo" was in fact being used when encodi...

Re: 64 Bit Version Windows 7
Is there a version of Audacity that works on Windows 7 64 bit? I see references to a beta version but not sure what is latest status. The current 1.3.12 Beta recommended for Windows 7 is a very mature Beta. For most purposes it is the best version to use for Windows 7 because Audacity 1.2.6 has not...

Re: XP Crashes when Recording
Sorry you did not get an answer before now. It is almost certainly a driver problem, probably with your sound device. Audacity itself does not have the kernel privileges to cause a system blue screen or reboot. Simply updating the drivers of the sound device you are using will usually fix problems l...

Re: Closing a file w/o saving
I just downloaded & installed Audacity, and most of it works fine. However, when I play a file that I have imported and do not like it, I hit "close" and it closes the whole program, not just the file. "Exit" also closes the program. I just want to close the FILE, and try an...

Re: ipod does not recognise track numbers exported from 1.3.
As far as I'm aware iTunes does not support 32-bit files, but I could be wrong on that. Recent versions of iTunes do support 32-bit, but AFAIK iPod does not. You should export AIFF as 16-bit, with the project rate bottom left set to 44100 Hz, and make sure you have the latest iTunes. Are you runnin...

Re: Audacity can't find ffmpeg and lame files
I'm wondering if a non-administrator user can install lame and FFMpeg at all. Actually, it's normal on Windows and Linux also to require elevated privileges to install programs or libraries. On my personal machine, I have permissions to go read down the /usr/local/lib pathway. On the failed machine...

Re: CCIT U-Law, 8kHz, 8-bit, mono
For "ADPCM U-law CCITT 8 bit" select "Other Uncompressed Files" as the format in the Export Dialogue screen, then click on the Options button and select WAV > U-law For a 8 kHz bit rate you need to set the Project Rate to 8000 before you export (bottom left corner of the main Au...

Re: Cisco Phone Prompts and WAV U-Law format
The trick is to set the 'Project Rate (Hz)' in the bottom left hand corner to 8000 of Audacity. Next select 'File' > ' Export' > Change the 'Save as type' to 'Other uncompressed files' (a bit misleading) > Then click 'Options' button (bottom right) > Select 'WAV (Microsoft)' for 'Header' and 'U-Law...
