Re: input recording problem

Exit Audacity, go to the "Recording" tab of "Sound" in the Windows Control Panel, list the disabled devices, enable "stereo mix", make it the Default Device and turn its volume levels up. Instructions are here . Then choose "Microsoft Sound Mapper - Input" in ...

Re: Audio editing problem

I want to remove the sound of a siren which was coming from outside my office when I was delivering an speech. The siren was also recorded in audacity software during the speech. It was stereo recording. It will be very hard to do that. I would assume the siren is not really that loud compared to y...

Re: Delay in listening while recording

I'm getting about a 1/2 second delay in monitoring what I'm recording. Can anyone tell me why and what to do to fix it? You cannot "fix" the delay with software playthrough monitoring. If you must use a USB mic, upgrade to one that has a headphones jack for hardware monitoring. Or use a m...

Re: DB Levels

Is this the same Samson CO1U USB mic in your other posts? You will need to make all input level adjustments in Windows - as you can see, the Audacity input slider is greyed out on maximum meaning that Audacity can't control the mic level itself. Are you using Samson's SoftPre applet ? That was often...

Re: How to get itunes to work with Audacity?

Audacity has nothing to do wIth iTunes - they are separate applications. To export from Audacity so that you can see the file in iTunes and convert it to Apple's AAC format, see: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Exporting_your_Audacity_Project_into_iTunes_and_iPod To import files in Apple's AAC for...

New/improved plug-ins for potential inclusion in Audacity

What is the next approach to the -quality list for possible Audacity distribution? Improved replacement plug-ins with more features: * Bass/Treble (ideally to replace Bass Boost) * We have a simple fade by dB plug-in listed in the New Plug-ins but we have more advanced ones elsewhere for considerati...

Re: Really simple Tone and Volume Control

There is a "less simple" alternative at http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=45662&start=20#p116289. Instead of a single control with Bass at left and Treble at right, this plug-in has separate gain sliders for Bass and Treble. Instead of a volume control slider, ther...

Re: Audio files don't show up in "Import Audio" dialog.

Thanks, a2m. It should be fixed in the next 1.3.14 Beta (or should be fixed in the latest 1.3.14 alpha "Nightly" Build for Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7 from http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Night ... s_Binaries) .

Re: New plug-in effect - PopMute

@DickN - 1.3.12 on Windows has known issues that clicking around in (and after using) effects can crash, also splitting can create unwanted zero length clips which can also cause crashes. Please update to the current 1.3.13 Beta. I would hope that would cure the problem. 1.3 Beta no longer saves .au...
