Re: Local Help Manual
This is really odd!! It started working today after failing for several days since I installed Audacity. However, to answer your questions: Was running Windows 7 64 bit in English Was clicking on the menu item in the Help pull-down Net browser (IE) was not open Nothing happend when I clicked the me...

Re: File too big?
Also (before you import again) go to Edit > Preferences: Quality and set Default Sample Format to 16-bit. That should at least mean that Audacity will only need about 5 GB of space to decompress the file to lossless PCM. Otherwise it needs 10 GB (and twice either of those figures if it's a stereo re...

Re: Recordings are sped up when played back
It is usually a problem with sample rates, but often is not as simple on Vista and 7 as choosing 44100 Hz - you have to match rates with "Default Format" in "Sound", or use "Exclusive Mode" and make sure the rate you use works with the card and is the same everywhere. T...

Re: Delay typing into a label or dragging tracks vertically
Does (1) also happen without playing the track? Can you list steps to reproduce 1, 2, 3... for (1) and (2) from launch of Audacity? Or is (2) a special case of (1) ? Yes, (1) does happen when neither playing nor recording. I've only seen (2) on one occasion. It is a special case of (1) , since (1) ...

Re: How to display many samples in a small space?
A real world click or intentional sound would be wider than an individual sample. If you are trying to detect audio above 0 dB, try View > Show Clipping or Analyze > Find Clipping (both in Audacity Beta). Or click the menu in the track name and look at the Spectrum View. That should show areas of gr...

Re: Delay typing into a label or dragging tracks vertically
James has figured out that autosaving every change in project state is a significant part of the problem - we currently save for every letter typed and for every arrow key press when you hold SHIFT and arrow to extend a selection. 1.3.12 has autosave but only saves periodically. It was a bad impleme...

Re: Multitrack recording with ZOOM R16
Dieter, Firstly, the MP3 version of the "click track" will not be synchronised with the WAV original because the MP3 format adds about 50 milliseconds of silence padding to the start. But my guess would still be that the real problem is this - the MP3 player does not play the MP3 at the sa...

Re: Mono setting crashes!
Windows XP Home. Sure I installed the sound drivers. Wouldn't work without them. As I said, works fine when recording stereo, but if I set it to mono (in preferences) the whole computer crashes as soon as I hit Record. I can split recorded stereo tracks to mono and that works fine, just cannot reco...

Re: Delay typing into a label or dragging tracks vertically
I've added Bug 406 . In Step 3, "Start playing the track or recording a new one" is unnecessary in my experience for most of the indicated behavior, Yes the description says "Does not depend on playing or recording, but doing so usually shows the issue more clearly." Peter has r...
