Re: Export to WAV Libsndfile error
@tbrantigan: What was the outcome of this? Was a partial file exported despite the error message? Could you export using another format? * Exactly what is the "Save as type" in the Export File window? If you are not choosing "WAV (Microsoft) signed 16 bit PCM", please click "...

Re: Audacity crash when loading MP3
You can always build Audacity from HEAD and submit a backtrace if there is still a crash. You can probably adapt the instructions here to install the dependencies and build Audacity. Default Audacity ./configure will enable libmad which is required for MP3 import. You can check in your existing buil...

Re: lost file
Audacity 1.2 isn't very suitable for OS X 10.6.7 and may well crash when you stop recording. The recording is in the form of a group of .au files in the Audacity temporary folder, but you have to make Finder unhide that temporary folder. Then you can probably recover the files with the Audacity Reco...

Re: Distortion on recording to Line in (Win7)
OK problem solved I think: In Realtek Microphone Properties/Enhancements, the "Disable all sound effects" box was un-checked. When I checked it everything worked beautifully again, using a line-out to line-in cable. OK glad you found that. That suggests the mic port is probably "pseu...

Re: Distortion on recording to Line in (Win7)
I have the 2 sockets side by side on the laptop, one with a headphones symbol next to it, the other with a microphone symbol. Then you do not have a line-in. You have a mic port that can either be switched to stereo line level (stronger) input with a switch on the machine, or in the control panel, ...

Re: Registration problem
I'm trying to register 1.2.6. I use Win XP and I can only get as far as the screen that says "Please input Reg Code and click next button!". I inserted the registration code, but there is no "Next" button to click. I tried rebooting my system and it didn't help. All that is on t...

Re: Fresh Fish with some Question.
Autotune plugins (like Gsnap) don't really work properly with Audacity as Audacity does not have midi giving a reference tune the autotune can correct to ... http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=127602#p12760 Without a midi line it just gives half-baked versions of the weird "T-pain&q...

Re: cannot select with audacity
i have managed to do something to my copy of audacity. When I attempt to select a portion of a waveform the vertical selection line jumps to the nearest second. IOW, I cannot select anything between seconds (1,2,3,etc). I would appreciate it if someone would tell me how to reset audacity so the sel...
