Re: Text Envelope

Thanks, Steve. I added some suggestions to the help text (in red ) below. According to conventions we should have no more than 25 lines of help text or 50 characters per line. The first screen has too many lines - perhaps an answer would be to cut therefrom If Units are seconds and dB, the example a...

Re: Audacity 1.3.14 beta

Audacity doesn't use separate tabs for different projects, but separate windows. I don't know any Windows application that clears to an empty workspace when you click the window close button [X] on the last window. I presume this is what you are doing in 1.3.12, thinking it's like closing a tab. I'm...

Re: downloading music from iTunes

1.3.13 can import AAC files as long as they are not DRM protected by the Apple store. They shouldn't be if you only just started with Mac. I'm not on a Mac but you may need to go to File > Import > Audio and select the "QuickTime files" filter in order to import AAC files. I'm not sure if ...

Re: No recorded location

I moved the topic to the 1.2 Forum since that is the version you are currently using. You can follow the instructions here: http://audacityteam.org/help/faq?s=install&i=lame-mp3 which show where the LAME installer will install lame_enc.dll. You can always export as WAV and use other programs to ...

Re: Audacity 1.3.14 beta

I've downloaded the latest Audacity ( i think it's 1.3.13 beta not 1.3.14 beta) and with the previous one I'd just discovered that I didn't have to keep an empty project file open to stop exiting Audacity. In Edit/Preferences/Interface there's a check box and: 'Closing last window quits Audacity' a...

Re: Record Left and Right rear channel audio only

Hi guys, this is my first post here I did a search and couldn't find anything on my particular topic. Is it possible to record only the left and right REAR channel audio only? I suspect that the answer is no, but I can't find any information elsewhere. If it's not possible, is there any software ou...

Re: Recovery

Hey...so I have Windows and I have no idea why but my Audacity randomly crashed before I saved my project. Nothing else crashed...but I closed the program, reopened it, and it asked me if I would like to recover my files and I, of course, hit yes. So now I have Audacity (Recovered) up and it has th...

Re: Egads! Three hour recording = 20 second, 4 *gig* file? H

The only reasonable explanation of the bit rate Finder shows and hence the size is that you either exported as 32-bit WAV with 48000 Hz project rate or 16-bit WAV with 96000 Hz project rate. You really don't need either 96000 Hz or 32-bit if you are podcasting. Export as 16-bit WAV at 44100 Hz then ...

Re: Sound Issue

I suggest you upload an example WAV file (30 seconds or so) that had too much mid range saturation and an example that has the current distortion. The Forum uploads are limited to 1 MB but you can use: http://www.yousendit.com http://www.megaupload.com http://www.sendspace.com or similar. Audacity d...
