Re: Background hiss in recording

I'm trying to do a simple voice narration. But every time, the narration is accompanied by a continual and consistent background hiss (not exactly a hiss; maybe a hum; sort of a "dead air" sound). This background noise is there whether I record my voice or just hit record and do no speaki...

Re: recording using a microphone

I'm using Windows Vista. I'm fairly new to Audacity. My microphone is a simple Dynamic 5000 which plugs into the side of my computer. Exit Audacity then go here; http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=Mixer_Toolbar_Issues#vistacp for instructions to get to "Sound" in the Windows Con...

Re: Not able to record

There is no such operating system as "Windows 2007". Assuming you mean Vista or 7, exit Audacity then go here; http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=Mixer_Toolbar_Issues#vistacp for instructions to get to "Sound" in the Windows Control Panel. Then right-click in the "...

Re: Simple BPM counter

Thanks, Steve. It looks quite promising. Any plug-in that output BPM count (in a debug window) and labels, and was even slightly more accurate than beat.ny would be an improvement. How much of the detection problem is with setting the threshold correctly? Would a "pre-analysis" of the peak...

Re: Audicty is recording things IT shouldnt hear

Audacity is not a Skype recorder and does not claim to be. You can't record stereo mix with a USB headset because it acts as a self-contained playback and recording device that only offers mic recording. You'd need to use a hardwired headset and plug into the pink (mic) and green (audio out) connect...

Re: Can't adjust Master Volume or Mic Volume on laptop

You could try selecting all the contents of the CD and dragging them into a new folder on the hard drive, You could call the new folder "Drivers". Then run "setup.exe". If you still cannot install the drivers then you will need to find details of your motherboard using CPU-Z or a...

Re: Crashes While Exporting mp3

You can also try looking at the memory dump and analyze it in WhoCrashed: http://www.resplendence.com/downloads Before using WhoCrashed, you’ll have to make sure that Microsoft Debugging Tools for Windows has been installed. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/hardware/gg463009.aspx The first ti...

Re: Simple BPM counter

As I'm sure you figured, I'd be happy to replace the beat.ny shipped in Audacity with something "better". More accurate detection would be just part of the aim. Could you make user-intelligible debug output that just said "BPM was detected as x", then labelled the detected beats?...

Re: How to stop sync iPad 2 to my Macbook

Help!!! My iPad 2 has simply stopped syncing to itunes. I can still sync my iphone, but syncing ipad 2 has no effect at all. It creates a backup and toward the end of the sync process I get the following message: the sync is finished without doing any thing at all. I can still transfer files to dif...
