Are you using 1.3.13 now (you launched that version immediately after trimming .cfg)? Exit Audacity, trim.cfg then launch 1.3.13 is what's being suggested.

F2 - F6 can be used to switch to other tools. Does it help?

Playing with shift-arrow manipulation, it appears that the sliders snap to the nearest integer dB anyway. Select a slider that's at 0 dB.
