Re: Corrupted Audacity Files
Thanks for the report and sorry for the problem. Were any of these projects originally created in Audacity 1.2? To begin with, please attach the .aup files for the projects that became corrupted when you reopened them, plus log files for each. You can get the log files by clicking Help > Show Log, t...

Re: Orphaned Blockfiles
Thanks, orgelquaeler. Leaving the project open a long time is another scenario I have heard before. Do you have these projects open in an Explorer window? That is also under suspicion as a cause. What is the full three-section version number of your Audacity version (see Help > About Audacity)? Is i...

Re: Mic Volume issue (Windows 7)
See http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/FAQ:Recording#enhancements to begin with. Also on the "Communications" tab of "Sound" in the Windows Control Panel, what is the setting for adjusting sound levels? Although it is "believed" that setting only affects playback (or re...

Re: Not able to record
I am a new user of audacity...and not great with technical stuff. I haven't been able to record because I get an error message that says "erorr while opening sound device check device setting and project sample rate' Do you know what this means? If you have what is obviously a configuration pr...

Re: Headphones no longer cut out speaker.
There is one called 'Realtek HD Audio manager' So look in there on the playback side for an image of the headphones jack. There may be a switch to control what it does that is set to "Front speaker out" or similar. Set it to "Headphone". "Front speaker out" is usually ...

Re: No sound when playing
The Audacity Preference is "Software" Playthrough - that always has delay while the sound is passed through the computer. See if you can unmute the input you are plugged into on the playback side of the system mixer. If it works it should have a lot less delay, but likely it won't work. Se...

Re: Cannot open file with audacity
We had a very similar case with someone using a "1.3.12.7" package of Audacity supplied by Linux Mint a while ago. He gave up in the end without a solution but he did not want to update the Linux Mint distribution. You can read the end of the saga here: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewto...

Re: WAV files exported from Audacity are not bit-identical
The only way to fix the problem here is to compile with all libs LOCAL , none being SYSTEM. So default configure of Audacity HEAD (no options, just ./configure) fails the test on Ubuntu 11.04 - exported WAVs are not bit-identical? Have you done a diff to see what the differences in the WAV files ar...

Re: Can't record XP sound at the same time as Mic audio!
Hi there I've just downloaded Audacity in order to record my voice over tutorial videos on you tube. However I can't see a way to record my voice through my mic at the same time as the sound coming from my computer, so they can be put together into one sound file. Is there a way to do this?? I'm ru...

Re: Volume Problem
What Koz means is that by default most Windows Vista/7 systems will turn on echo cancellation and noise suppression effects that are mean to improve sound when making internet phone calls but are unsuitable when you want to record high quality audio.
