Re: Audacity destroyed music after edit
@Espec7. Most of this is explained if you could bear in mind the link you were given: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Audacity_Projects Please look at Help > About Audacity and make sure you are using the latest 1.3.13 Beta. It sounds as if you are not doing so. 1.3.13 is here: http://audacitytea...

Re: clicking sound/noise when editing
If you use Z for both the cut and the paste, you should not be able to produce that bad edit.kozikowski wrote:This is a bad and good edit between two different tones.

It's the abrupt break in the graceful, up and down wave that causes problems.

Re: clicking sound/noise when editing
When you select a region you want to paste somewhere else, do Edit > Find Zero Crossings (or just type Z) to adjust the edges of the selection so they lie on silence. Click where you want to paste then do Z again so you move the cursor to a silent point. Then paste. This doesn't always guarantee no ...

Re: console won't start
I did a new install of Audacity 1.3 beta, and the last install screen started audacity. The audacity console did not appear, and there was no audacity button in my task-bar. I checked and the processes running include audacity. When I double-clicked the audacity button, a popup screen said audacity...

Re: Synchronizing Tempos
They drift farther apart. And actually, I didn't record my voice, I used a downloaded a capella. For whatever reason, the playback and recording speed is different. Also you posted to the 1.2 board for Mac. If you are on OS X 10.4 or later you will be better with Audacity Beta 1.3.13: http://audaci...

Re: Possible Virus Attack?
Well, unfortunately I found out that the computer does indeed have a horrible virus on it. It's locking out entire folders now that have nothing to do with Audacity, like "My Documents", "My Pictures". I'm going to use the System Recovery and start over from scratch. If somethin...

Re: Convert a Surround sample down to Stereo
Unfortunately, it would be hard to recommend fixing this right now. We are only doing fixes for data loss and instability issues at the moment so we can get a new 2.0 "stable" release out. Fixing the issue you've identified where Chains doesn't understand left and right tracks could be qui...

Re: Waveform analysis when importing .mogg file?
But I think this is a bug. I can correctly import .mogg files in 1.2.x series in Windows XP, but had the same problem in 1.3.12 Beta running in Linux Ubuntu. @ mig, do I assume renaming to .ogg doesn't help? @ both SMYMusic and mig, please upload an example file to a free file transfer service such...

Re: Metadata when exporting files as MP3
Open the Metadata Editor (File menu) before you Export and enter all of the information that is common to all tracks. That will still make you confirm the common metadata for each file, although it is now prefilled. If you want the 1.2 behaviour, go to Audacity > Preferences: Import / Export and un...

Re: Audacity is already running error message
I would be equally concerned why Audacity is freezing. Does it freeze on launch or only after you import files from the external drive, or after some other action? Why don't you reboot, then Audacity won't be running as long as you don't have it set to run on login? Then before you start Audacity ag...
