Re: Possible Virus Attack?
I've run scans using three different antivirus programs, Norton, Malwarebytes, and Microsoft Security Essentials. None of them found anything, they all report a clean system but I know that things aren't right. They are telling you that they cannot detect a virus. If Microsoft has buggy permissions...

Re: Overdub recording problems - distorted sound
similar problem - I am overdubbing with a mic. First (overdubbed) track is fine, sometimes the second and third, sometimes not. Anyway, sooner or later a recorded track plays back with lots of crackling/ buzzing. I've tried changing various levels settings as in previous posts, to no avail. The wor...

Re: Cross-Fade (revisited)
I think part of the "market" who are not over particular may prefer Envelope Tool to a plug-in where they have to consider different curves and options and can't see the result at once. But given the Envelope Tool is "fiddly" and without options, isn't that a good reason to get a...

Re: couldnt find the project data folder: "filename_data"
Look at the name of the .aup file. That project's _data folder has to have the same name as the .aup and be in the same folder. Example: Suppose it is called "guitar.aup". That .aup file is looking for a folder called "guitar_data" and that "guitar_data" folder has to b...

Re: Echo on second track recorded
In preferences/recording, Overdub is ticked and Software Playthrough is ticked. If I untick Software Playthrough and try to record another track, the cursor is red and moves at about one hundredth of the speed it should and playback just produces a "noise" wherever I played something. You...

Re: audacity does not start
You posted to the Audacity 1.2 Linux board - are you really using 1.2? Is it an Audacity package provided by SUSE? The Preferences file where you can enter the temporary directory is at: (1.2) ~/.audacity (1.3) ~/.audacity-data/audacity.cfg Have you changed the default Audacity temp directory or is ...

Re: now sound doesn't work anywhere else
I just installed Audacity for the first time ever I followed steps here to finally get the sound working in audacity and now I can't get sound in any other program, including internet or windows media player. Assuming you plugged in a USB recording device, either unplug it or set Windows to use the...

Re: Noise Removal in 1.3.x (Beta)
Have you read the Manual; http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Noise_Removal ? The simplest thing you can try to begin with is to move the "Sensitivity" slider rightwards. That slider was put there to help Audacity 1.3 remove noise which was more blended into the audio. 1.2 could do that qui...

Re: Audacity quits recording
Check the USB cable for tightness or replace it.
Connect the recorder to a spare USB port, not a hub.
Disconnect other USB devices and close other programs if practical.
Reboot the computer.
Defragment the disk you are writing to.

Re: Audacity 1.3.13 crashes at startup
I suggest you exit or force-quit Audacity, rename the attached to "audacity.cfg" (without quotes) then paste it into ~/Library/Application Support/audacity/. Reboot then launch Audacity. That .cfg stops Audio Unit and VST' plug-ins loading so removes them from the equation. Audio Units ar...
