Re: Odd behaviours on joining and splitting stereo tracks

I didn't "change" the gain - I just touched the gain slider. It did kind of what you suggest - it applied the gain - 0 dB - to both channels. I don't think Audacity should render the change when the gain slider is touched - that defeats the (time-saving?) purpose of these functions. Can y...

Re: Editing Multiple Files

editing one [file], while a complex filter is applied to another and a third is being normalised That (and exporting and importing simultaneously) used to be possible in earlier Betas (in different project windows) but Audacity isn't threadsafe enough to do that, so any way of doing that was locked...

Re: Odd behaviours on joining and splitting stereo tracks

I just did some mucking about with splitting and joining stereo tracks. Try this: Import a stereo track Split stereo track (to stereo) Reduce the gain on the right channel to -20 Make stereo track Now play it back. The right channel of the stereo track plays back with the -20 dB gain applied, but t...

Re: Setting default zoom level

You can still use Zoom In after CTRL + 2 but it should save you some zooming in.

Re: time stretching...

You can use Effect > Change Tempo: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Change_Tempo or Effect > Sliding Time Scale: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Effect_Menu#slide Please expect that there will be distortions with either effect. Sliding Time Scale will be better because it has less distortion an...

Re: Audacity VST bridge help (updating)

Versions of Audacity from 1.3.8 onwards do not use Audacity Bridge. When you want to add a VST effect in 1.3.8 and later, you have to click Edit > Preferences, choose "Effects" on the left, put a check mark in "Rescan VST effects", click OK, then exit Audacity and restart it. Aud...

Re: Setting default zoom level

OK. When i open an audio file, I see the waveform. As it is displayed, it's too packed together for me to edit so I have to always zoom in on it rather than having the audio already zoomed in to my preferred zoom level. It would save me a step if all my audio opened up to the regular zoom level I a...

Re: MP3 File size too large

I've been using Audacity to record church services for several years. I record as a .wav and then edit and save as a .mp3 file which I post on our church web site. I upgraded to Audacity 1.3.x Beta and now the mp3 file sizes have jumped from 30 minutes = 3mb to 22mb. We email the mp3 file so it nee...

Re: Odd behaviours on joining and splitting stereo tracks

A possible solution would be for the envelope of the upper track to be applied to both channels (both visually and in effect) when making a stereo track? Kind of goes against "no problem so far" above? Agreed, but it would be much better than the current behaviour in that the behaviour co...

Thanks, I'll ask the site owner to make it so that referral from any audacityteam subdomain is allowed. Meantime I edited the post to say you have to go to the FAQ (from where the links do work).
