Re: [SOLVED] Audacity require to be "installed" - cannot sta

David Rose has confirmed that he has two XP Pro SP3 machines, one of which would not launch 1.3.14. Installing the appropriate Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package lets the machine that had the Audacity launch problem launch 1.3.14 OK.

Re: Can't find installed Lame or AAC Lib

There is no directory called /usr/local/lib/ on my hard drive! The /usr directory is hidden on Mac. You can use the "Go" menu in FInder but if you are on OS X 10.6 or 10.7 Apple may create permissions problems accessing /usr. Instead, the packaged is installed in: /Users/<username>/Librar...

Re: Help! 1.3.14 install problem!

So Steve, I downloaded the microsoft file suggested, ran the repair tab, and guess what.............it worked perfectly!! Runs fine now. Thanks, polkat. It would help us to know what operating system you are on including Service Pack (right-click over Computer or My Computer > Properties). Gale

Re: Audio skips no matter [SOLVED]

Thanks, Paul for the feedback. I'll mark this one as [SOLVED] for now and lock it as it may encourage others to persist with all the possible solutions. If the issue comes back, please start a new topic and give a link to this one.

Re: (linux) build breaking: 'wxLocale' does not name a type

I'm no Linux guru, but I googled "error: 'wxLocale' does not name a type" and found lots of others are having the same problem with Slackware and wxWidgets. Thanks, Edgar. Yes I saw that too, but I guessed Lightning was at the "bleeding edge" and compiling Audacity with later Wi...

Re: Fedora 16 ffmpeg + audacity-freeworld-1.3.13-0.4.beta

There is another patch here by Leland Lucius that also has some backwards compatibility, so should also be OK for FFmpeg 0.6.x or 0.7x.

Re: (linux) build breaking: 'wxLocale' does not name a type

Sorry, I don't think I know what the problem is unless someone else here does. It's not a general problem. It may be best if you e-mail the developers' mailing list (see "Using audacity devel" here ). You're meant to subscribe, but if you write from the address with which you are registere...

Re: Question about encoding

Can Audacity encode AAC files in Variable Bitrate mode? I need to know before I download it. I deleted your duplicate post asking the same question (except you said you wanted 320 kbps because 256 kbps "was not enough"). Can Audacity encode AAC in Variable Bit Rate? It depends entirely wh...

Re: Recover project

Audacity saves the .aup file last, after the _data folder. Have a look in ~/Library/Application Support/audacity/AutoSave. Audacity had a temporary .aup file there with .autosave extension before you saved the project. The .autosave file does not seem to be there or Audacity would have offered a rec...
