Noah, 1.3.6 has lots of bugs and is very old. Please upgrade to 1.3.14.

Re: Sound Finder / Silence Finder improvements

We generally recommend that people do snap crackle and pop removal before running sound/silence finder. For the same reason it would be better to deal with issues such as chair clatter (with, for example, "Pop Mute") before running sound/silence finder. Having gone through dozens of tests...

Also do not enable the checkbox option for "Audio Cache" in the Directories Preferences.

Re: Compress it all or one by one.

Yes, I made Audacity Crash again, and got an autosave file. But I cant send it to you, since I'm getting this message "The extension autosave is not allowed" when trying to post it here. Sorry, I didn't consider that you would have to rename it to .txt extension. But I allowed the "a...

Re: Audacity _ data folders

OK so you have 25 projects, is that correct? If you switch to "Details" view in Explorer you will get the files as a list with the date modified for each file. Does it help? What tool recovered these files? Ideally it would have told you what folder each .au file was originally created in?...

Re: Compress it all or one by one.

I were able to get to the AutoSave folder going trough all the folders you mentioned( appdata/Roaming and then Audacity) but it was empty Thanks for trying. You only have an autosave file if there are unsaved changes. If Audacity crashes, there will be unsaved changes, so that would be the time to ...

Re: fresh install on log in - every time.

For anyone else with limited privileges, the solution is to use the zip version of Audacity instead of installing it:

Can you open the image in Paint and save it as PNG? Then you can attach it. The image will be too large pasted into a Word document.

Re: Audacity _ data folders

The _data folders have the same name as the project. If your project is "song22.aup", the _data folder is "song22_data". If you are using Audacity 1.2 as per the board you posted to, then as far as I know the .au files go directly inside the _data folder, without being inside sub...

Re: fresh install on log in - every time.

I am a Mac user. Unfortunately the mic on my beloved MBP ain't what it used to be, so I use Audacity on a PC. I mention this because my problem might be a very simple one, I just don't know as much about PCs as I do Macs. Anyway, when using Audacity on a PC, it insists that the program isn't instal...
