Re: File Restore?
Did the whole computer crash or only Audacity? Better even than saving different .aup files periodically, export a WAV file periodically. You can File > Export Multiple if you want to save each track as a separate WAV. You can always recover from a WAV file. What did you do when the Audacity Automat...

Re: Upgrade 1.3.14 Causes Audacity to Crash
To save Mephostopholes from unnecessary hassle I think that it's best that we do it "right". If Mephostopholes makes a backup copy of audacity.cfg he can't go wrong, but it may be less confusing if Bill or Bruno try steps 1 - 5 first (if those steps don't do what I suggest on all platform...

Re: Help not functioning
I also DLed the Nightly and had the same problem there--neither Quick Help nor Manual are working. Given the Help is absent from the "Nightly", clicking Help > Quick Help or Help > Manual (but not the links in the Welcome Screen) should show a dialogue saying the help is missing. If you d...

Re: Help not functioning
The nightly does not have the help files in the zip ... Ahhhh OIC - thanks for that insight Ed, I've always wondered why I never get the help with the Alphas :? The policy is not to include help files in zips: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Release_Process/Win#Create_the_zip_version so the "...

Re: Upgrade 1.3.14 Causes Audacity to Crash
I assume the idea is to create a folder called "Portable Settings" only in the folder where you have 1.3.10 installed. If you then open and quit 1.3.10, Audacity will write its "audacity.cfg" settings file in the Portable Settings folder and always look there for it. I was think...

Re: AIFF Quality Loss When Exporting .au Files
This would be easier if Audacity had a " Delete Project " command to do the cleanup - but it doesn't, sadly. Wouldn't this be a good candidate for a "new feature" request? Yes we have a Feature Request for a "Project Manager Utility" for safe moving/deleting/copying of...

Re: Upgrade 1.3.14 Causes Audacity to Crash
Of course I am willing to help in any way I can. It was mentioned I could run the upgrade without having it write over the older version, so maybe we should begin there. How do I go about setting this up? Thanks for your help. I assume the idea is to create a folder called "Portable Settings&q...

Re: Problem with installing Lame
Try logging in with an administrator account, or ask your administrator or IT manager for help. Alternatively download "ZIP OPTION: libmp3lame-win-3.98.2.zip" from this site: http://lame1.buanzo.com.ar/ You then have to extract lame_enc.dll from the zip file to anywhere you have full permi...

Re: Question about DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0
Thanks, Ragnar. Just to add that as you have 64-bit Windows 7, you'll want to click the "Run 64-bit DxDiag" button to make sure your 64-bit drivers are OK. The "Sound" tab of DxDiag is also probably the easiest place to find the "Vendor ID" of your computer sound device...
