Re: Question on High Pass Filter

The "corner" is like one of those child-safe rounded affairs, or in technical jargon there is a "transition band". OK, but I feel the "fine print" has to explain that, or the headline is misleading if taken literally. Is the corner frequency always at half the rolloff ...

Re: Upgrade 1.3.14 Causes Audacity to Crash

If I add an empty "Portable Settings" folder while Audacity is quit then launch Audacity, I would expect Audacity to launch with the existing audacity.cfg settings in the system location, because it cannot find an audacity.cfg in "Portable Settings". Then when you quit, it would...

Re: Importing ape/wav problem

steve wrote:As far as I'm aware Audacity does not support APE files, so you will need to decode those first to WAV files.
You can import (but not write) APE files if you add FFmpeg to your computer. See:

Re: Carbonite Back up problem

Are you logged in as administrator, or were you when you exported the files? I don't think Audacity is to blame. Ask Carbonite support if there could be other explanations.

Re: Question on High Pass Filter

Now after applying a 6 dB per octave high pass filter at 1000 Hz. Note how the high frequencies still have a fairly constant level of about -46 dB. The "corner frequency" is defined as the -3 dB point, which you will see is at 1000 Hz (as we set with the filter) which is around -49 dB. On...

Re: Help not functioning

I see the dialog. It is visually the same (wording etc.) for both menu entries. However, if one starts from the Manual menu item the same dialog's link ends up on the main page of the Manual: http://manual.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=Main_Page Right near the very top is an offer to download th...

Re: RECORD from pc to mini disc

Generally you would connect a stereo cable with TRS 1/8 inch connectors at both ends from headphones out of the computer to the line-in of the MiniDisc player, then play the files on the computer while recording on the MD player. http://www.minidisc.org/very_faq.html#_q110 But if you have this: http...

Re: VST doesn't work

I was reading another post and found the answer, and it worked. In the Edit menu, there is an option called preferences. Click that, then go to Effects preferances. Then go to The check box that talks about rescanning when Audacity is restarted. Click taht and it works. Two problems with this syste...
