Re: squashed up track??

Install FFmpeg according to these instructions: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/FAQ:Installation_and_Plug-Ins#ffdown then hopefully Audacity will import the file. Make sure you use Audacity 1.3.14 (check at Help > About Audacity). If you need 1.3.14 it's here: http://audacityteam.org/download/bet...

Re: Auto detection of LAME encoder dll for multiple users

All Audacity Preferences are stored on a per-user basis. 1.2.6 no longer supports Windows 7. The supported version is 1.3.14 Beta. http://audacityteam.org/download/beta_windows . If you use 1.3.14 and the target of the Lame installer is left unchanged ("Lame For Audacity" in the relevant W...

Re: Sound Finder / Silence Finder improvements

3) allow longer silences up to .... seconds. From what you've said previously, the main purpose of (3) is so that some silence is included at the beginning and end of the detected sound. I think you gave the example of allowing some of the "silence" before and after a piece of classical m...

Re: local access to help manual

What web browser are you using?

And when you open the index.html file directly, do you double-click it (which means it opens with the default browser), or use "open with" and choose the browser?

Re: Can't Open/Import WMA files

You may be able to convert the files using Switch, dBPoerAmp, SUPER or other standalone converter, or you may be able to burn them to disk directly from Windows Media Player (I don't use WMP so I can't help with that). Thanks for pointing out dbPoweramp - it's not free but I'll give the 21 day tria...

Re: Can't import video files

I don't think that WMA lossless is currently supported. WMA version 2 should be OK, but other versions are likely to fail. That "WMA-Proprietary" was a misleading message that appeared in 1.3.12 when you clicked Help after an import failure. It did not mean the file was detected as WMA. A...

Just to be clear - If you turn the internet connection on do you still get the message "do not appear to have help installed"?

Re: 1.3.12 Hangs on start then crashes REVISED

I can confirm that audacity 1.3 {word rejected} sucks and will not run with waves plugins. It is known that Waves V7 plug-ins crash Audacity at launch on OS X, but we don't have a known fix other than quitting Audacity then editing Audacity .cfg so that VST and Audio unit plug-ins are disabled. Soo...

Re: How to Recover Silenced Audio AFTER a project has been s

It is possible to "redo" silences after the project has been quit by using "envelope points" to make the "silences". Advanced fade-ins and fade-outs are often made this way. The envelope points are "handles" in the waveform that you can drag and up and down to...
