Re: Crash and no Joy

Re: Sound Finder / Silence Finder improvements
Thanks, Steve for your patience. Yes I think your scheme is correct. One person following this off-forum said to me "the brain doesn't have the worry that the coding has because it isn't adding any silence; it's deciding whether the silence already there is long enough to exclude." I hope ...
Re: Lag time
Windows 7 machines are fairly unlikely to offer hardware playthrough of the inputs. Have you unmuted in the correct place, "Playback" tab of Sound, right-click over speakers > Properties, then "Levels" tab, then unmute the fromt mic? I have slider and mute for playback inputs on ...

Re: Unable to save modified mp3 without re-encoding it?
I sped up a song and tried to save it, but it made me re-encode with lame and all that. However, the audio file is already modified the way it is, so why can't I just save it like that? Why does it require re-encoding it and all that? That seems like an unnecessary extra step that can diminish the ...

Did you install Windows 7 on the computer? Whoever did that has an administrator account and knows the password.

Re: Sound Finder / Silence Finder improvements
As to what (c) might be, in that case merging labels until it encountered a silence longer than 1 second might be useful. Such behaviour would not be easy to explain in the "Help". I don't think your proposed behaviour is that easy to explain either when the options conflict. :) What happ...

Re: background colour
You'll need to go into the Windows Control Panel and change it. Look in the section for "Appearance and Personalization" on Windows Vista or 7. On XP, read this:

Re: Sound Finder / Silence Finder improvements
I am a little surprised it makes as many labels as that - is it making a "sound" out of every vowel? Apart from that, I wouldn't (with that algorithm) use "ignore", any more than I would with "crackly" audio. And I would have to live with hundreds of labels in the pre-c...

Re: Chain help - bit rate change
Yes you could batch-convert OGG files to MP3 in iTunes. You will have to add OGG support for Quick Time: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Exporting_your_Audacity_Project_into_iTunes_and_iPod#OGG_format_.28open_source.2C_small_files.29 . Then drag the files into the Music window and set the "Im...
