Re: Newbie Needs Help
I have version 1.3.13 Beta. Is this version ok? Or do I need to download 1.3.14? If so where do I obtain the 1.3.14 beta version? 1.3.13 has a built-in Manual too, if you installed 1.3.13 rather than using the zip. It is usually best to have the latest version as this will have the latest fixes. 1....

Re: add build date to log
But same question - don't we know the commit number of a release? I do. Certainly, because of the freeze. But there will be nightlies going forward, right? Yes, and they will be alphas (I presume) which already have __TDATE__ appended to AUDACITY_SUFFIX. And if those nightlies had at the top of the...

Re: Error while opening sound device
The slider is always present in "sound", that was my mistake. Where there slider comes and goes is the audio mixer on the speaker icon in the system tray by the clock. Sometimes Stereo Mix is there, sometimes it isn't - either way it still doesn't detect sound. The Volume Mixer should onl...

Re: Error while opening sound device
EDIT: My mic stopped working which was preventing me, for some reason, from making Skype video calls . I couldn't work it out, so I did a system restore t oa few days ago and that now works. However, whatever I did to make Audacity not give me an error on Stereo Mix has now been undone... and it's ...

Re: add build date to log
Can you say why? The devs would really like to be able to ID the commit revision number for some bug reports. Search Bugzilla for "commit"--I asked if there was a way and got "No, but it sure would be nice". Having the build date on the betas (the "stable" is well know...

Re: reproducible crash exporting large mp3s
Here's a link to one of the file that would cause a crash on Audacity OSX Lion Thanks. Are all the files that crash on export that long? Do please (at least) try Bill's project and MP3: open the project, amplify it up or down, save the project, re-open it import the MP3, amplify it up or down, save...

Re: Tape Getting Wrapped Around Wheel
Thank you for your quick response. I only posted my question here because it says that no questions will be answered by e-mail. I will check the instructions for replacement instructions. Thank you again. There is no technical support for Audacity by e-mail. Anyone that has a bug report or feature ...

Re: audacity inputs and windows 7
So, testing audacity with windows 7 and can't get inputs 3-4 showing up, only inputs 1-2 (both in MME and Windows direct sound mode). I also have windows XP available and there in windows direct sound mode inputs 3-4 and more show up properly. What could be the problem? Using Scarlett Focusrite 8i6...

Re: Distortion/noise
ASIO may well be the difference. Audacity does not come with ASIO support enabled, but you can compile Audacity with ASIO support turned on - see http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/ASIO_Audio_Interface . Unfortunately it is time consuming to set this up. Does the distortion occur only when recording ...

Re: Error while opening sound device
Who is the "Driver provider" of the Realtek device according to Device Manager? If it is Microsoft, you need to do searching for drivers. What program are you trying to play audio in (for example, Internet Explorer)? Right-click over the speaker icon by the clock > Open Volume Mixer. You w...
