Re: Multiple autosave files
Currently backing up the .AUP file would be of limited usefulness because after saving the project there could be data required by the back-up that no longer exists. An option to include the History would make .AUP backups useful (especially against a corrupted .AUP file). Assuming the project save...

Re: Multiple autosave files
After you close the project, there is no going back. I think most users would be perfectly OK with giving few Megs of hdd space for Audacity to keep "Time Machine" for their projects. If you do editing, not recording, keeping older project file gives the possibility to revert some wrong c...

Re: Can't record in stereo
Sorry, I'm new at this...so here goes. Running Windows 7 and Audacity 2.x on a laptop. Recording albums and exporting them as mp3 files. On true stereo records, it only is recording 1/2 of the stereo. If you mean you are recording two channels in Audacity but both channels are the same, you have to...

Re: Audacity crashes on startup
I am also experiencing crash on startup :? . Yes thanks for the report. The issue with GuitarRig v3 and v4 (Audio Units) is already in the Release Notes for 2.0.0: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/w/index.php?title=Release_Notes_2.0.0&action=submit#Program_Launch and on bugzilla: http://bugzilla.au...

Re: (soft) file associations lost
When Audacity is used to open a project by double clicking on the AUP file, Windows registers a key for audacity.exe in the "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTApplications" section. As it does when you use "Open with" to open an audio file (if that key does not already exist). For that reason, y...

Re: Audacity cannot find correct path to file.
Put double quotes around the "%1" and the problem is fixed. That's why I never recommend setting defaults that way (use "Open with" instead). "File Types" is useful if you want to create a custom-named context menu (whether or not you make Audacity default application)...

Re: Spitfish Audio Units plugin no workie
Bill just beat me to it, but the FishFillets plug-ins are very old and the VST versions of them are also for PPC Macs only. So they won't work on OS X 10.6 (which is an Intel system). The way to check (I think) is by right-clicking > Get Info over the Fish Fillets.component file. I think your only c...
