Re: Flat Line Audio Imports and Recording Vanishes
Temp Files Location: audacity_temp If the text box at Edit > Preferences: Directories actually says audacity_temp with nothing before the "", that path is the cause of the issue. That path will be whatever Windows sees as the "working directory" (which will usually be the folder...

Re: No wave form from imported mp3
I checked and indeed these recordings are both mp3s. The recorder I have only records in wav or mp3 formats and I have selected mp3 so it doesn't use up all of the available memory for an hour-long recording. Is the Vista machine also running Audacity 2.0.0? If you click Edit > Preferences: Directo...

Re: .bak
Thank you for your response. My operating system is Windows 2007. I was using Audacity 2.0. Do you mean Windows 2000, or Windows 7? Are these .bak files called .aup.bak or just .bak if you hover the mouse over them in Explorer? When you restarted Audacity 2.0.0 it should have offered you the projec...

Re: vst scanning - basic question
is it right that Audacity 2 will scan for the vst every time at start up? this seems to be a bit odd (and not how other vst handling programmes work) Scan at each start up should not happen if Audacity has already detected VST plug-ins, which means at least one plug-in is listed in plugins.cfg in t...

Re: Chris Capel's Dynamic Compressor
Yes, it works fine with 2.0. I've been using and recommending 1.2.6 with Audacity 1.3.x beta for a while. Audacity 2.0 is just Audacity 1.3 final (with new bugs, which I'm working to document). 2.0.0 did actually fix some bugs in 1.3, but if you have found steps to reproduce for new bugs in 2.0.0 (...

Re: My Computer Restarts
Thanks for letting us know. If the restart problem happens again, let us know also.
Some users who need to install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable to run Audacity are already on SP3, so there should not be any major conflict between the two.

Re: Gaps in sound when recording with Audacity 1.3.3?
Well, I am back to having problems yet again. The gaps are different this time. Instead of the typical gaps that I used to get with the previous versions of Audacity (where nothing was recorded for a microsecond), the gaps now are now recording the music, but at a MUCH lower level. It's like, the m...
