To hear the input while you are recording, use Transport > Software Playthrough on the Audacity menu bar.

Re: Please help, signal question....
Have you set Audacity in Device Toolbar to record from "USB Audio Codec" or similar (that is, the mixer)? If the USB Audio Codec is not visible, choose Transport > Rescan Audio Devices from the Audacity menu.

Re: sounds move from left channel to right channel sporatica
I have Windows XP. When recording, the monitor sounds great. But the Audacity recording at times has problem. (1) The right channel is consistently more quiet than the left, even when the monitor sounds balanced. (2) At varied intervals, the sound of the right channel moves to the left, for a secon...

Re: listen, repeat & playback for language learning
Have you looked at the Manual so you know what commands to use http://manual.audacityteam.org/help/manual/index.html ? Probably you want to select the sentence using your mouse, press the green Play button, press the yellow Stop button (or the Space key), then press Record, which will record from th...

Re: Compilng Audacity for ASIO
I started a new topic for this.
Start here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Developing_On_Windows .
Did you start at the top? Have you installed Visual Studio C++ 2008 Express? Have you installed the correct Windows or Platform SDK? Which version of Windows are you using?

Re: How to automate save file and location in Audacity?
I think the simplest way to achieve this would be to use the existing Transport > Sound Activated Recording feature and add a label when the recording pauses. Then you can File > Export Multiple. Do you want to vote for labelling Sound Activated recordings? Audacity won't be doing exporting while re...

OK I'll add a vote for that, too.solanus wrote:In Export Multiple, add another option to name files by Prefix before Label/Track Name - I could see that being useful in other situations, too.

Re: Timestamp of exported (from selection) wav file
Or if the file creation time is 23:00 April 26th, and you select from one minute into the file, you want the time created to be 23:01 April 26th? Yes, that is what I tried to suggest :D OK I will add your votes (it's still two separate ideas). But, aren't the file creation times unreliable anyway? ...

Re: cannot record in stereo
We cannot see over your shoulder, unfortunately, and so cannot begin to help you without much more information about what sound card(s) and external audio devices you have and how microphones and other recording inputs are connected. You could possibly try a System Restore if you have that enabled i...

Re: Timestamp of exported (from selection) wav file
Additional string to the file name is not what I tried to propose but the file modification time to the file/filesystem. Some people would find it useful I think to add the Timeline selection into the file name. I thought that was what you meant. You want (I think) to create a new file having the t...
