Re: Sound Finder / Silence Finder improvements

Can you think of any user cases where it would be desirable to allow labels to overlap? Not right now, but there will bound to be someone out there that wants that. No, the "main distinguishing feature" I would not want to lose the Sound Finder default for is the region distinction. Which...

Re: Sound Finder / Silence Finder improvements

I feel "Group" implies something "plural" In a way I guess it is. The user case in the front of my mind is for splitting lectures/audio books. I am not very clear why the first grouped label in your image doesn't end at about 2 mins. The sound that ends at 2 mins looks like the ...

Re: Lost important recording

Given Vaughan's comments on the devel email thread I'm minded to add the greying out idea to the proposal in the Wiki rather than removal of the Cancel button. Any support for this? I'd rather the Cancel button was greyed out than removed. I agree - another alternative would be to leave the cancel ...

Re: 14hour recording crashed before saving...

This is the 3rd time I have used Audacity to record long performances using 1.3.6 and in the past I was able to save a 13 1/2 to 14 hour continuous project recording at 24/44.1. Of course, in order to bounce the mono tracks to .wav files, I have to save each mono file in 2 GB increments and import ...

Re: 14hour recording crashed before saving...

Here is my take. Given you see the "Faulty Sequence Tags" error in 2.0.0 and you are not now using "Automatic Crash Recovery" but are trying to open a probably faulty project, you could end up making more of the data inaccessible if you use 2.0.0. This is my first post in over 3 ...

Re: Recording Timer

The Recording Timer always shows tomorrows date. It will not go lower than todays date. If I go to the timer panel now it would show the lowest date will be 25th May & will not go to 24th May as it should do. Timer Record takes the date and time from the system time. You may want to right-click...

Re: Sound Finder / Silence Finder improvements

I don't think users will see the distinction between disregard and ignore. "Ignore" is simple I think that the current wording is a more precise description of what the plug-in actually does. The plug-in has a "rule" to mark sounds that are above the threshold level, but this co...

Re: Sound/Silence Finder enhancements

As far as I'm aware the main intended use of SilenceFinder was/is for splitting long recordings into shorter tracks. Yes. This task allows Export Multiple to export each marked "song" as a separate file, so logically the user is wanting to label the start of the songs (sounds) rather than...

Re: Lost important recording

Audacity is also famous for writing over old cache files if it gets confused. Koz I ran a few deleted file recovery programs looking for recently deleted files and came up empty. I assumed the temp files have a ".au" extension. If anyone knows differently please let me know. I'm guessing ...
