Re: Freeze in Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit
if this is the same computer you had Linux Mint on, you may want to backup your data, format the drive and start over with Ubuntu 12.04. There was someone a while ago who said Audacity froze importing MP3's on Linux Mint. We never got to the bottom of it, and Linux Mint were not very helpful. We put...

Re: Using USB external sound device @ 48kHz
Did you check my earlier post about ASIO and Tracker ? I don't understand why there is only one EMU digital input in Windows in your image, but two in your Audacity Device Info, namely "Digitale invoer E-MU 0404", devices 1 and 11. Have you right-clicked in the Recording tab in Windows and...

Re: Rule for Shift+Up/Down Arrow toggling Select
Can't reproduce any of those failures on Win 7, even with hh:mm:ss+CDDA frames selected as time unit and Snap To enabled. I'll have a look on XP some time if no-one else does. Just tried it on Vista Home Premium, and it works as you describe for Win 7. Is there a way I can move this topic to the Wi...

Re: Slow cursor with Windows 7
Did you replace your computer as well as 1.2, or did 1.2 work until you stopped using it on your current computer? Have you changed your computer sound device since the problem started? 1.2 could crash on windows 7 when you press Stop after record, so I would not recommend it. You could use a previo...

Re: Files always going corrupt
You certainly should not be saving Audacity projects if your hard drives are suspect, that will only encourage Audacity errors because its error checking when writing and reading projects is not as robust as it might be. If error-checking a drive deletes or moves data on it, that drive has too many ...

Re: Slow cursor with Windows 7
Please set the project rate bottom left of the Audacity window to 44100 Hz. Please choose Generate > Tone and click OK. This should give you a 440 Hz tone of 30 seconds length which sounds like A above middle C. If that tone sounds correctly and takes 30 seconds for the green cursor to travel to the...

Re: Rule for Shift+Up/Down Arrow toggling Select
Drag a selection from 5s to 10s seconds in the third of three 20-second tracks. CTRL + B to add and close the label. Drag from 7s to 8s in the third track. Down Arrow. Now ENTER will toggle a selection of 7s to 8s in the label track. Tried it, didn't work! Shift+Click in the Track Control Panel doe...

Re: Rule for Shift+Up/Down Arrow toggling Select
The general rule that SHIFT + up/down arrow "expands or contracts" the selection doesn't make sense if there is no selection to expand or contract. Who wrote that? http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Audacity_Selection#keyboard Hold SHIFT while pressing UP or DOWN to extend or contract the...

Re: Enhancements to Frequency Analysis
This is currently done by reducing the "Meter/Waveform dB range" in the Interface Preferences. The Manual did not say this but I now added it. That's for Spectrum mode in the Track display. I'm posting about Analyze->Plot Spectrum. I was aware what you were talking about, which was why I ...

Re: Sound in all other programs, but suddenly none in Audaci
I have never had a problem opening audacity.cfg in Notepad, certainly not when dragging it in. The next 2.0.1 release of Audacity will have an installer that lets you reinstall and reset the audacity.cfg file automatically at the same time. we uninstalled Audacity and deleted every possible remainin...
