Re: Help with exporting to M4A
Thanks for letting me know the version of Audacity I used doesn't support FFmpeg 2.2.2. Audacity 2.0.6 and later (including 2.1.2) do support FFmpeg 2.2.2, but that version of FFmpeg 2.2.2 is built with a specific AAC encoder called "libvo_aac" that is fixed bit rate. The AAC quality slid...
Re: playback
When I record a cassette tape the play back has a repetitive chopping sound in the background at about the frequency of a helicopter (bupbupbupbupbup]. If I listen to the tape using headphones on the USB cassette Capture unit the sound is not there. Any ideas? Thanks If you zoom in to the blue wave...

Re: No sound when playing vinyl through my MAC
Assuming you mean sound while recording, Transport > Software Playthrough. If you want to hear without recording, you have to click in the Audacity Recording Meter where it says "Click to Start Monitoring" as well as enable Software Playthrough. If Software Playthrough does not work, get &...

Re: Nyquist effects missing
Gale -- yes, under Preferences/Effects the box for "Nyquist" is checked. And as previously stated, I have run the sudo command multiple times, and rebooted before and after. Still no luck. Sorry, well does disabling Gatekeeper help while you want to use Audacity? sudo spctl --master-disab...

Re: Help with exporting to M4A
Hello, the M4A quality slider doesn't work with the version of FFmpeg (2.2.2) that we recommend, as noted in the 2.1.2 Release Notes: ( http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Release_Notes_2.1.2#Imports_and_Exports_.28FFmpeg.29 ). You can use the workaround mentioned in that link to export using "Cu...

You can drag Device Toolbar wider at its right-hand edge.LateNightUser wrote:The windows are too small so I can't give you the full selection names that appear above the recording meter

I've added your "vote". Thanks!cultjard wrote:I just came across this thread while trying to find out how to set the default Project Save directory. If votes are still being counted, please add mine to the "Add this to Preferences" tally!

Re: absolute time of recording
Wasn't there a thing about not being able to get seconds or fractional seconds from Windows? When writing to disk, the precision (granularity) of the time stamp depends on the file system. NTFS (Windows) has a maximum (at best) resolution/ranularity of 100 ns. FAT had a granularity of 2 seconds For...
