It looks like you need to install this:
http://packages.ubuntu.com/precise/libportaudio2
Did you uninstall the PPA build of Audacity as suggested? This seems to be the libmp3lame you want:
http://packages.ubuntu.com/precise/libmp3lame0

Re: Sliding Time/Scale Pitch result sounds strange
Thanks. Steve. I only realised later when I tried to compile it on 32-bit that I had missed buffer.h by not scrolling to the bottom of the previous diff.

Re: Sound in all other programs, but suddenly none in Audaci
Does your Mac sound come back after you close Audacity? On one machine it does and on one (the one I'm typing on) it doesn't. The instant you touch a control or slider after Audacity closes on the laptop, the sound comes back and the machine carries on as if nothing had happened. On the Mac Mini, t...

Re: Music Export Problem
Click "Options" in the Audacity File Export Dialogue when you try to export MP3. Tell us the options you are choosing there. What is the Audacity project rate bottom left of the window when you export? You can export MP3 with FFmpeg. Once you have installed FFmpeg , choose "Custom FFm...

Re: Sound in all other programs, but suddenly none in Audaci
Under Windows, it's perfectly natural have Audacity silent and the other services work perfectly. As above, Audacity will usually directly control the machine's output volume, though not always (it does control it on my Win 7 netbook, but not on the laptop). All my sound drivers are appropriate (ma...

Re: Sound in all other programs, but suddenly none in Audaci
I think it's time to involve The Developers. I launched Audacity 2 on my OS-X 10.6.8 Mac and turned the Audacity "Speaker Icon" slider down to zero. I got a very similar symptom to SenorN. I had bouncing meters and blue waves and no speaker sound at all. I closed Audacity like that and ki...

Re: Sliding Time/Scale Pitch result sounds strange
@ 2.0.0+svn20120618+r7219-0~r12~precise1 and still no fun :( I've made a patch here that "might" work. I don't know what I am doing in the slightest, but am doing the same replace of the memcpy function with memmove that fixed it before. You can read how to compile Audacity in a few steps...

Re: Resonant Filter
Thanks. I think the output level slider is a good idea. Perhaps rather than state "Resonance (Q)" values greater than 1 will cause a significant boost at the filter frequency" three times, put that once after "Resonance occurs with Q values greater than 0.707" in the "R...
