Audacity had been working fine on my machine but all of a sudden whenever I try to open it, it freezes my PC. Audacity won't even load up at all it just freezes. Not sure why this would happen everything else on my PC works fine. I'm using Windows 7 Professional and Audacity 2.01. I tried installin...

Re: Warning - Missing Audio Data Block Files (S)
I exported as a wav file but it did not help. It says all 9+ hours are there. When I play the wav file, there is no sound. I did go to the file folder and all the .au files are there. How do I get that back onto a project. I click on the .au file but it does not play, gives me: warning when importi...

Re: compiling audacity with wxwidgets 2.9.3
Thanks, Ed. I added "if on Linux" to my "usr/local/bin/" example. On Windows, Audacity looks for the WXWIN variable by default, so I think all Laurent really needs to do is just build wx 2.8.12 in a given directory separate from 2.9.3, set WXWIN to point to that 2.8.12 directory,...

Re: 32-bit floating point is really 24-bit?
See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Floating_point .prog1 wrote:Oh, okay, I see. Options in the desktop. But what is the difference between 32-bit Float and 32-bit PCM???
.
Note that many programs will not be able to play 32-bit files, especially 32-bit float.

Re: compiling audacity with wxwidgets 2.9.3
In my opinion it would be far easier to install a second version of Widgets 2.8.12 (for example, to usr/local/bin/ if on Linux) then point Audacity to that, than go through all the 2.9 hoops that are likely to occur.

Re: Label Tracks and Shortcuts (Known Issue) - extra info
It was mentioned at http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Tracks_Menu#Label_Track but I also segued it into http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Label_Tracks#create . Whoops, missed the second one (I don't find reading through lots of text very easy on screen for some reason...) and I didn't even think ...

Re: Quality Settings for CD
Should I bother using Dither for Highest Quality 32 bit musical recordings? I dont want it to dull frequencies. Is it more of a function when using microphones/white noise? Dither adds some very quiet noise to mask nasty conversion sounds when you downsample from 32-bit to 24-bit or 16-bit. Usually...

Re: Exporting music to CD burning softward
My song or album doesn't appear ANYWHERE in Media Player. When I go into Export, Save I have no idea where to save the file to, there are NO INSTRUCTIONS anywhere to tell me. People can export where they like if they have permissions to save there. Audacity is not just for burning WAV files in Wind...
