Re: System Reboot
Audacity 2.x (and 1.3.7 and later in the previous Beta series) need LAME to be built with sufficient features (symbols) or they won't accept LAME. This is so that the MP3 exports with reasonably correct metadata and correctly reported playing time, and so on. You can always get a full featured LAME ...

Re: Help--Error: duplicate attribute at line 21
To fix a problem like this you can make a copy of the .aup for safety, then open the original .aup file in a text editor. On Mac you may need to drag the text editor window wide so that there is no text wrapping to the next line. Now look at the line in the error (21): <tag name="Copyright"...

Re: Audacity not recovering my file after crashing?
No idea why the machine crashed, I stopped the recording, went up to 'File' to save it, and my computer froze. I am using Audacity 2.0.1 'Automatic Crash Recovery' opens up when I open audacity, saying my file was not saved properly, but audacity can recover it. I press 'Recover Projects' and get a...

Re: Audacity 2,0,1 on Mac Snow Leopard 10.6.8
I installed the mic before I opened Audacity, the mic shows OK in Audacity. I also copied all the dmg files and pasted them in a new folder I made for Audacity in the Applications folder. OK, if you mean you copied all the files that were in the dmg. Where do I find "Transport" to rescan ...

Re: Audacity can't start with audiophile usb sound card
PCLinuxOS used to include Audacity in their base install (in 2007) but I think they now don't. It would have been a very old version of Audacity in any case.

Re: Audacity Fade effects
No I don't think that linear fades should be replaced. I think they are such a basic and essential part of any audio editor that they will always be needed. I'd be more than happy to replace cross-fade in and cross-fade out... I don't see Pro Fade Out as a "replacement" for Cross-Fade Out...

Re: Exporting music to CD burning softward
Sorry, I am back again. I at least have some idea now about splitting tracks so will work on that my real problem is at the very start of the process. How the heck to I stop external sounds from recording? I have to sit in complete silence, hoping that the phone won't ring or the dog bark as it is ...

Re: Adjusting input volume for USB turntable
So I would not assume USB is natively noisy. It's frequently broken, yes, and it's easy to install wrong, I'll certainly give you that. But that doesn't mean USB sound is automatically noisy or defective after it becomes digital. I would hope USB could not get corrupted once it is digital. But as I...

Re: Design de l'interface
What do you think of this interface. The colors have been changed. The buttons are modified. And the false logo is removed. I have replace the image in my serveur. Look at the top. :) The Audacity logo is still blue headphones with letter "A". (I refreshed the page). The concern about it ...

Re: Audacity 2.x - More Resource Intensive?
I'm uploading a slice of a recording which has wicked fenceposting in it. I turned on 2.x, set the priority to HIGH, engaged the audio buffer, hit RECORD and started the tape, which is transferring in via Behringer 222. The computer is running no other programs, the antivirus (MSE) isn't doing any ...
