Re: Beginner-itis - Saving a chosen portion of an mp3

I have this now....C:Downloadsaudacity-win-2.0.1 and in there are the following folders: 1. Audacity folder 2. FFmpeg_v0.6. ... indows folder 3. Portable Settings folder After creating the Portable Settings folder I then clicked Extract on the audacity.exe file and the files extracted to C:Download...

Re: Audacity Fade effects

Yes what to replace the two Cross Fades with is an important question. What if the "cross-fade" effects were removed - would people complain? What would they complain about? I doubt that their complaints would be that actual cross-fading is more difficult or less convenient. They may compl...

Re: Audacity Fade effects

I doubt many users have patience to work a lot harder at fade in than fade out. Perhaps we could publicise the pseudo "log fade-in" trick that I described to waxcylinder (as a tip on the wiki?): http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=185364#p185364 There is nowhere to put it on the...

Re: Audacity Fade effects

Yes Bass Boost could go, but the developers don't seem interested in replacing it with your Tone Control. Losing Preview in the Nyquist replacement may be a reason. The lack of "Preview" in Nyquist effects is a major drawback for many effects. Adding "Preview" would arguably be ...

Re: Audacity Fade effects

we also lack a multi-point text envelope There is one available on the http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Nyquist_Effect_Plug-ins#Text_Envelope I think either it should be shipped in Audacity (as one solution to making custom fades to/from non-zero) or it should be publicised much more widely, inclu...

Re: Exporting music to CD burning softward

For some reason I can only access the manual through links supplied on this list. If there was no Manual on your computer (this will be the case if you obtained the zip of Audacity instead of the .exe installer) then Audacity should not freeze but open a window telling you how to obtain the Manual....

Re: Audacity not recovering my file after crashing?

What is the extension of the file "C:users.....etc". Is it the file in the "AutoSave" folder? It won't be any use unless there is data in the temporary folder to recover (assuming you were not recording into a saved Audacity project). The extension is 'Autosave' yes. So does thi...

Re: Missing top bar on Audacity 2.0.0

audacity1.jpeg Right - the issue is not that I'm just getting "Fi" on the top, and everything else blank - the issue is quite simply, the whole of the top bar has gone, period, and no amount of jiggling with controls other than what I stated in my OP, is bringing it back. I need that bar ...

Re: Beginner-itis - Saving a chosen portion of an mp3

LAME is a different library that enables Audacity to export MP3. To export AMR you need the FFmpeg library using the instructions Steve gave you: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_installation_and_plug_ins.html#ffdown So from http://lame1.buanzo.com.ar/ you need the ZIP version of FFmpeg - he...
