Re: Cassette recording timing
If the time recorded is shortened, the music will be slightly higher pitched, and if lengthened, slightly lower pitched. You can use Effect > Change Speed to change the length and pitch to what it should be. See the formula to do this here: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/change_speed.html . Gale

Re: Loud hiss from cassette and AMPLIFYing
You can only safely amplify to the level Audacity offers when you open Effect > Amplify. Amplifying to the level offered avoids creating distortion. You will still get hiss when amplifying to the level offered if the audio being recorded was hardly any louder than the background noise. Gale

Re: Error when attempting Append Record
Thanks Gale, I had tried those solutions - without success. A number of reboots later and it is working perfectly. I wish I knew what I had done to fix the problem A reboot can help if the recording cursor just "sticks" without moving forwards. "Error opening" often has a more d...

Re: Audacity loading plug-ins from my other recorder at open
What does the Cakewalk VST message say? If it is a nag to license their product you will have to put up with it if you want to use those VST's in Audacity, because unfortunately Audacity loads VST effect plug-ins on launch, not when or if you use them.

Re: How To Amplify & Then Save Multiple Individual Tracks?
I have around 100 wav voice recordings requiring amplification. So far the only method that works is one-at-a-time, manually. Inserting more that one wav into audacity, amplifying and then exporting as mp3s to the hd, instead saves one track with the overlapped recordings of the originals. Use FIle...

Re: Error when attempting Append Record
Hi, I have the same problem but on a Windows 7 64bit Laptop. I need to preview what I have just recorded before I add new material but want everything in the one sound file. Append Record seems to be the perfect solution, if it worked! See http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=188037#p18803...

Re: Error when attempting Append Record
Append Record records at the end of selected tracks. Most sound devices can only record stereo (two channels). If you have three selected channels already (one stereo track counts as two channels) then try to append-record, you will see "error opening" with a stereo recording device becaus...

Re: Multiple export
Thanks, Edgar. That looks more like a SoX bug than a feature? While you were brewing up that solution I was brewing up another solution, using a patch that a developer gave me a while ago (see below). These are the replies from designer I just tried that on one of your files. When you export it, as ...
