Re: Unable to run audacity, Error Occured!
Possibly you built Audacity wrong. Current debug builds of HEAD should not do that. The instructions are here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Developing_On_Windows . As already explained, you don't need to build Audacity to build an audio decoder. You can also build release build instead of debug...

Re: sudden appearance of recording latency
The type of latency is the delayed echo from the mic before and during the recording. So did you change to Windows 7 when this first happened? It's rare for Windows 7 to provide hardware playthrough. If you had no playthrough latency and this mic is connected to the mic port of the computer, then y...

Re: Why is it adding the track number to the name tag?
I let it do what it does, then have to manually edit each song when it's done. Assuming you don't want to make edits in different parts of the tracks, you would be better using Chains, as Koz suggested earlier . When you export multiple, the Track Title is always taken from the Track Name or Label ...

Re: Not recognizing any playback or recording options
Did you try quitting Audacity and resetting audacity.cfg ( http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/pr ... tml#stored ) ?-- No. You should always try that, just in case. BTW i am simply sticking w/ 2.0.0 for now -- unless someone knows of a compelling reason to upgrade.Ed You can check the changes for ...

Re: Can't disable "Save Changes" popup
As Koz says, it isn't a problem with the audacity.cfg file. The "Saving Projects" warning in Warnings Preferences is for when you choose File > Save Project. The "Save Changes" warning is for when you have unsaved changes in a project, for example by importing an audio file then ...

Re: How do I hear the Export mix?
You still cannot grasp the idea that, for the average user as opposed to the power user, they don't expect the two things to be different. People on Audacity Team have to consider all the issues involved, and listen to all the users who give their opinions and experiences. In particular, Team Membe...

Re: Not recognizing any playback or recording options
I uninstalled the old version (using apt-get remove audacity), then reinstalled it, but it still went with 1.3.12. How do I force it to use the PPA? Synaptic has a way to force the version: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SynapticHowto#How_to_force_the_installation_of_a_package_version . Otherwis...

Re: How do I hear the Export mix?
Rather than a lengthy post addressing each point raised by Gale, I'd like to take a different angle on this question. Even so, I think there are unanswered questions in your proposal. I could guess what the answer is, I may be wrong. There are at least 2 different behaviours that are desirable for ...

Re: Not recognizing any playback or recording options
Does the PPA build of Audacity have the same issue ( https://launchpad.net/~audacity-team/+archive/daily ) ? I'm kinda confused about this. I added the PPA to my system, then tried to install it, but it said Audacity was already the latest version. Did I do something wrong? You might still have ano...

Re: Newer codec versions
why are Mac users stuck with a version that’s four years old? Because no-one we trust made a build we could recommend since then. But there is nothing to stop you building the shared dylib file(s) for us with the necessary symbols, if you would like to do that. Or you can use the binaries I suggest...
