Re: Professional sounding fade out.
I think it may be harder to "sell" to the developers unless it was proposed as a package of measures e.g. Pro Fade Out, Cross-Fade, Fade Envelope (the "advanced fade") and remove "Cross Fade In" and "Cross-Fade Out". I would be very happy to support such a mo...

Re: (soft) file associations lost
I thought of installing the 1.3.7 and then I noticed a checkbox to associate .aup and didn't remember seeing that when I installed the 2.0.2. I finished the installation anyway. Then I uninstalled all of my audacity programs (some 1.3.7 files were not deleted so I deleted the entire folder from the...

Re: Export in AAC 320 KBPS
Everytime I try to export in AAC format in 320 kbps it ends up being a higher bit rate (ex. 329). I've always thought that the highest bit rate is 320. Does this mess with audio or is this normal? Audacity supplied by us exports AAC using a "Quality" setting (a form of variable bit rate w...

Re: Cover picture gets lost when saving to mp3
Maybe a beginner question...I try. Using OS 10.7.4 and Audacity (from dmg), I want to modify mp3 music files. The original files have/show already a cover picture, when saving/exporting from Audacity, the cover picture gets lost, i.e. the new mp3 file is with the original cover picture. Is there a ...

Re: Newbie asking 4 help adding short silence to file
Click where you want to insert the silence, Generate > Silence then choose the length of silence:

If you generate noise you will want to choose a very low amplitude level.

Re: Help understanding Sampling Rates in Windows 7
There is some more explanation here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Windows_7_OS#sample_rates Audacity can only receive audio at the requested project rate if the sound device supports that rate and if you tick (check) both "Exclusive Mode" boxes in Windows and choose "Windows Dire...

Re: Annoying Buzzing Sound in Recording
The noise in that file is not loud. All computers record with noise. Connect the equipment you want to record with and press the Record button in Audacity. Start singing, playing or speaking after a couple of seconds with the red recording meter peaking at -6 dB. Breathe in several times if the nois...

Re: 2.0.0 You do not appear to have help installed
How do I tell Audacity where the files are? They're in /Users/<username>/Not OSX native/Applications - OSX alien/Audacity/help/manual (Basically, I keep all the non-native OSX applications in another directory as it helps me keep track of what external apps I have to restore should I build a new ma...

Re: Narrowband Noise
I believe identical left and right channels in a stereo track is properly described as "dual mono", but anyway, for those who have a stereo track to begin with, isn't choosing "1" audio channels and getting two channels (or four if you have two stereo tracks) more confusing than ...
