Re: Poor quality export

I have a very good quality mp3 file, and exporting after I cut a few moments of unwanted silence, I get a degraded quality file. Anything I'm missing here? Audacity has to re-encode the MP3. MP3 is a lossy format that always degrades quality. If you click "Options..." when you export MP3 ...

Re: cannot see all tracks on Mixer Board

Figured it out: when I left the Mixer Board window open and then moved tracks up or down relative to one another, it would screw up the Mixer Board window. If you can give us steps from launch of Audacity 1, 2, 3... that makes the problem happen, and we can reproduce it, we can log it as a bug. But...

Re: Mistake exporting to mp3

I had two separate Audicity windows open and was just going to start recording on the second one and stop the first one about half way through. The second window would not record when I hit record This is deliberate; you can only play and record in one project at a time. You can record into differe...

Re: During recording, timer locks up in audio display

I appreciate these are not small skips, but something seems to be seriously interfering with Audacity capturing the recording and writing it to disk (the write happens every six seconds or so usually). Can you try some of the ideas here: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_recording_troubleshoo...

Re: Using Versions 2.0.2 & 1.2.6

However, despite following the advice provided by Gale, on the face of it, one version was still being 'overwritten' by the other, as the only version the computer displayed (as indicated by the symbol of Audacity displayed on my Desktop), was the last version of Audacity installed. Yes that will h...

Re: editing an MP3 track. How?

The command line version supports Audacity Label files for defining split points, which could be a useful feature for some users. indeed that seems a good point, but many Windows users are not comfortable with using command-line apps. For Mac, it barely seems worth recommending except to advanced u...

Re: editing an MP3 track. How?

Aha. There is an interface on Windows but it is the separate "GTK" application. Here is a direct link to the interface version for Windows: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/mp3splt/mp3splt-gtk_0.7.3_i386.exe In view of the poorly presented site I suggest we give the direct link for Windo...

Re: wma files size not as the original

Hi, I have windows 7 64 bit. I have some wma files that I recorded with a pocket audio recorder. When I opened it with audacity (I already installed FFmpeg_v0.6.2 and Lame_v3.99.3 plugin) and saved it as wma, the saved file was much larger than the original file. When you export, you have to choose...

Re: Audacity shows no input devices or channels

So this is not possible to record from the internet using Audacity ? It is possible if the sound device has a "stereo mix" or "wave out" option (almost no sound devices have a real "audio CD" input that is connected to the CD drive). Have you right-clicked in the "...

Re: editing an MP3 track. How?

Why are we recommending mp3splt for Windows - the site is confusing as there are separate command-line and interface versions which is not explained properly on the home page. See http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=191311#p191311 . If you want an interface, you can also try MP3DirectCut: ...
