Re: No audio or just distorded record on Audacity
Yes Sir I did. WASAPI device is enabled but no sound recorded in MP3 file. Ridiculous! Audacity does not record directly to MP3. It records in lossless PCM then you can export to MP3 if you add LAME ( http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/faq_installation_and_plug_ins.html#lame ) to your computer. can...

Re: Debug and crash on "save project as"
Audacity 2.1.2, OS 10.12.1, MacBook Pro 2011 This could possibly be a continuation of the woes I posted here (which haven't recurred) but the symptoms differ so I'm creating a new topic. Twice Audacity crashed on trying to "save project as" (i.e. I want to create a new iteration). It star...

Re: "faulty sequence tags" and shifted stereo channels
since Audacity generated a debug report my question is only, does this get sent to the developers automatically or should I find it and submit it? The (Audacity) debug reports do not get sent to us automatically. I see you have attached them at http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=47&t...

Re: World Language use of Audacity?
Audacity can't interact with other instances of Audacity. You would require some sort of switching audio device or multi-channel recording interface for each pair of students, where that device was connected to one computer running Audacity.

Re: Manual - Local copy not accessible
macOS Sierra has restricted the functionality System Preferences > Security & Privacy : you can't turn Gatekeeper off any longer). You can, using the Terminal: https://www.tekrevue.com/tip/gatekeeper-macos-sierra/ but bear in mind that Gatekeeper is there as a level of protection. The actual pr...

Even to the. Naked ear there is a sort of humming sound, can that just be a microphone thing?
You may be able to get rid of humming with Noise reduction but do that before compression or levelling.

Re: Portable Settings
I found the Audacity folder, using your instructions. I made a "Portable Settings" folder there. Then I copied the Audacity folder to an external. I suppose that won't work? It either saves the settings when I first install or when I close the open program. Which one? Should I restart aud...

Re: Latency Help please!
I am using a condenser mic running through the Scarlett preamp. So what I am trying to figure out is how to record and listen to my voice at the same time without the delay (which makes it near impossible to record anything without messing up) I can use the monitoring through the preamp and there i...

Re: Portable Settings
I don't know how to find the directory where audacity.exe is. If you know where you installed or extracted Audacity to, it's in that folder. If you used the installer file "audacity-win-2.1.1.exe" to install Audacity, and did not change the installer settings, then it's in "C:\Progra...

Re: Quality loss exporting .wav and reloading into audacity?
Bringing the same file into and out of Audacity appears to be converting to 32 bit float then back out at 24 bit as that's the bit rate of my projects. Bit depth, not bit rate. As already explained, 24-bit to 32-bit upconversion is lossless. 32-bit float to 24-bit downconversion on export (if it ha...
