Re: Microphone recording levels

If I put a PCI sound card in my PC would this give the necessary microphone amplification that I am looking for? Not if the mic ports themselves are the problem, unless the PCI card has an effective microphone boost that the onboard sound card does not. It is very unusual for the onboard sound not ...

Re: Any plugin from the LSPDA set causes a scan....

The stock plugins do not cause a scan. Only any of those included with the package. I made a fresh directory of Audacity - no scan. I copied just *one* plugin (plate verb) over from somewhere else, and it causes a scan. I might think the plugins.cfg isn't getting written to, but I don't know what w...

Re: No right-click function in the GUI?.....

The main reason for limited right-click features is that Audacity was not developed exclusively for Windows (where right-click has always been the norm) but for Mac and Linux as well. In fact, most of Audacity's early development was done on Mac.

Re: Opening the program

Does the DAW supported by Presonus have the same issue? A full reinstall of Windows XP might help (back up all your data and program installers). This is good practice with older versions of Windows. Or you could set Task Scheduler to reboot the computer just before you arrive for work each morning....

Re: Professional sounding fade out.

The work-flow is improved in most cases for Version 25b if the default for "Use Preset or Controls" is "Use Controls", but it is still often less efficient that Version 25 I almost suggested version 25 (there are no real presets, all the controls work with each other) but I thou...

Re: Seems to record only the ambient sound

When I drag these AIFF files into iTunes now, the volume is much lower than other files I purchased on iTunes or copied from my CD collection. I thought that when I burned a Cd that iTunes would equalize this (I have Sound Check checked) but the volume is still much lower than other cuts on the CD....

Re: Opening the program

OK, please keep Audacity running overnight and see if you can still record with Presonus or built-in audio the next morning.

Re: Can't Record - Also "Error opening Sound Device"

General consensus is that the software is awful and that installing the ASIO4ALL driver is a good way to reduce latency. Audacity as shipped won't work with (and probably won't see) ASIO drivers. Steve has said further up this topic that GuitarLink will only work with built-in Windows USB audio dri...

Re: Opening link in Audacity

Thanks Gale for your help. Strange thing is when i was trying to save this file by right click from the email, it was not giving me any other option than HTML but i was able to save the file to mp3 from here :? It depends on the e-mail client and whether it uses Internet Explorer as the core for it...

Re: Professional sounding fade out.

My "favourite" on balance was still your modification of my suggestion with the single preset control turning off all the other controls (which included a fade direction control). Could you point to, or post, which one that was. This one http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=19291...
