What happens if you don't monitor at all? Just press Record with software playthrough on (assuming you want it) and accept recording the false starts while you find the LP track? Do you get more static noise events, or less?

Re: Global change of rate to all tracks
I have 30+ audio tracks that have been recorded at 16kHz sample rate and I need to set them to 8kHz. I can see how do this on an individual track but is there a way to set this on all of them in one go? When people ask this they usually don't want to change the length and speed of the files (which ...

Re: Unable to record because of a discontinuing sound.
If removing detected viruses and restoring the computer to an earlier time doesn't help, I think the next task would be to see if you have the correct drivers for the built-in "HD" device (as supplied by the computer or motherboard manufacturer). We can say more about that later. What is t...

Also, Play to Selection (shortcut B) may be useful sometimes for listening to audio close to selection boundaries.

Re: Audacity freezes and stops responding when I edit record
Either way, for most users, defragmentation is not likely to be the issue that it was in XP and earlier. but as I understand it, being very short of space can be an issue because the drive needs to skip about all over the disk to find empty space to write the data (much slower than sequential write...

Re: Really need HELP setting up Audacity
Also if you do want to hear the mic while recording, turn on Transport > Software Playthrough, but this inevitably has a delay (latency) so you will probably not actually want to do this.

Re: Audacity freezes and stops responding when I edit record
normally all you need to is check that the defrag is scheduled to occur when the computer is switched on. But you're not using it? Yes, as I said, it defrags when the computer is detected as "idle". Wouldn't performing a defrag in the middle of a production session or recording slow thing...

Re: meter toolbar
Probably the recording distorted before it failed, causing the clipping line at the end of the meter. A computer reboot will usually fix it. If this is a USB recording device, make sure it is connected to a spare USB port, not a hub. See http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_recording_troubleshoo...

Just to add, since I was replying at the same time, it's at "Manage drafts" under the "Overview" tab in the User Control Panel.
