Re: Playback sound quality lousy
Are you sure the recording sounded "lousy" before you exported it? Recordings may sound less than perfect after export as MP3 because it is by design a lossy format intended to throw away quality in order to save disk space. To make sure you have no "Enhancements" affecting recor...

Re: Taking the audio of webm files[SOLVED]
OK, I marked the topic as "Solved". I assume you mean FFmpeg, not ffdshow, though that also now supports WebM.audiowebm wrote:After installing the latest FFDshow for Audacity, I was able to work with webm files.

Re: Does Audacity 2 allow spacebar play/pause?
If SHIFT + A (Play/Stop and Set Cursor) helps, do this: Edit > Preferences, choose "Keyboard" on the left Select the "Command" category Press "P" on your keyboard twice to find "Play/Stop"; press "Clear" to remove the binding to Space On the line bel...

Re: Will Audacity run on a netbook?
I can only speak for Ubuntu, but that (and to some extent Audacity) have proved slow on my netbook compared to Windows 7.
One of the more lightweight Ubuntu derivatives like Lubuntu or Xubuntu may be preferable unless you really like the GNOME Desktop environment.

Or if you must have the dot in the file name, add another dot and the file extension at the end. See http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/fa ... extensions .steve wrote:Avoid using the "dot" (period / full stop) character in file names.

Re: Audio Cassette - Recording
Looking in the Advanced Volume I noticed Line In was not checked so I placed a check mark next it and it removed the check mark next to Microphone. That is a good sign, selecting one input disables the other. I then hit play on my cassette deck and clicked the Microphone icon in Audacity and hit th...

Re: Static while recording, sometimes
Just a thought: IIRC when I first loaded Vista, the default USB audio settings were for MONO oddly enough. Might be worth checking the advanced properties for the USB sound device to make sure it is set for stereo. (I know, the OP is running Win7, but could still be worth checking.) Thanks. Yes, it...

Re: Professional sounding fade out.
Thanks, Steve. Novice users could easily knock the sliders without any understanding of how to "reset" them, so lose any "easy" way to make a fade to/from silence I think that is a very minor issue - certainly a lot less of an issue than accidentally knocking a control in any of ...

Re: Taking the audio of webm files
Hi, I'm using Audacity 2.0.1 and it does not accept webm files. I want to be able to use the audio of webm files, the same way I do with mp4 and flv files. I would guess you are still using FFmpeg 0.5 which does not support WebM. Assuming you are on Windows or Mac, uprade to FFmpeg 0.6.2 from here ...

Re: Plot Spectrum drop-down settings not sticking
Forget it. I'll just keep selecting the options each time I Plot Spectrum. You shouldn't need to. No else has to. And we can't do anything about it if we can't make it happen. In case the .cfg file got corrupted, I would File > Exit Audacity. Run the installer again with "Reset Preferences&quo...
