Re: Nyquist Workbench for Nightly builds
I am anxciously waiting for a release where the python module is enabled too. If we were able to build up a pipe from XLISP to that module, we would have the interface between Audacity's functionality and that one of Nyquist. This could be a powerful expansion or alternative to the earlier proposed...

Re: Adjustable Fade
Let's call Steve's latest mockup suggestion v27 for clarity. I think yulac's point is that the Gain on the Track Control Panel is expressed in dB. If so, your "Gain Input Method" should not say "Gain" and "Gain(dB)" but the former should say "Gain (Linear)". A...

Re: Audio Cassette - Recording
I place the cassette tape in the deck and turn the deck on with it connected to the line in on the PC running XP Pro. I open Audacity and click on that microphone on the upper right with the drop down menu with Start Monitoring. I then click on Start Monitoring and *sometimes* (but not all the time...

Re: Audio Cassette - Recording
I needed to delete the first 17 seconds of silence before the music starts at second 18 of the beginning. I did this by clicking on the + Magnifying Glass and then placing the mouse cursor into the wave box *with dark blue colors) and pushing the finger backward from 18 to 0 and then right clicking...

Re: Which Windows SDK?
Thanks for helping, Edgar. FWIW, using the Audacity-modified setup.h is completely optional. It just turns on extra accessibility features. I do not understand why Steinberg gives ASIO away for free but will not let open source apps (like Audacity) include it out-of-the-box. The answer is simple - t...

Re: Audacity Quit Unexpectedly
The problem appears to be the "NAU Oxford" Audio Unit plug-ins in /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/ . The answer is to move those plug-ins out of that folder for example to their own folder in /Applications where Audacity won't see them. Note that Audacity also looks for Audio Units in ~...

Re: Corrupted File!
but gave me an error saying that it couldn't recover it properly (or something like that). It's difficult for us to help without knowing exactly what the error message was. Which version of Audacity are you using? (look in "Help > About Audacity") That's Audacity > About Audacity on a Mac...

Re: Windows 8 issue
I converted to Windows 8 and now I do not seem to have the "Stereo Mix" setting on the Recording tab on the Sound page. I have right-clicked on white space and checked the Show Disabled Devices and Show Disconnected Devices. No Stereo Mix; just a couple microphones, my webcam and Digital ...

Re: INSTANT AUDIO
Try this as a test. Open Audacity. "Generate menu > Tone" and generate a default 30 second tone. Play. Does that fade in or start playing straight away? If it fades in, look in the Windows Control Panel > "Sound" or similar, in the "Playback" side for sound effects to ...
