Re: VST Effects 8192 samples delay
This is with all VST Effects, and not just with this version of Audacity, it always did it. Anyway I'm using Audacity 2.0.1 on Windows XP Professional (x64), and I'm using several VST effects, the ones I use the most are Antares Audio ones (Autotune and all the tools) and some freeware VST as kn0ck...

Re: exporting wav to ulaw
I need to create a file in u-law mono wav, 8000 Hz, 64 kbps for a telephony application. I've tried some of the files attached in this thread but was not successful. I've also tried to export from Audacity 2.0.2 in other uncompressed files with options set to, and project rate set to 8000 Hz. Test ...

Re: Adjustable Fade
The more complex possibility could be that the effect analyses the selection it is applied to. Selections under about 0.1 s are linear. On longer selections, it depends how diverse the source material is. Pad and string sounds (i.e. legato music), where the rms (or peak) curve is smooth, can be fad...

Re: Adjustable Fade
You said a while ago that maybe 99% of people want linear fade in or out. I also said that for linear fade in and fade out the standard built in effects are better because they are a lot faster. If they want a linear fade to/from a custom level, then they will probably need the adjustable effect. I...

Re: Adjustable Fade
It is not yet specified but I assume the default "preset" is the one at the top "none selected"; if so, this is inconvenient for people who want to use the presets, If there are, say, 14 presets (as previously suggested), then if we pick any one of the presets as the default, th...

Re: Adjustable Fade
The plug-ins are "Pro fade In 1" to "Pro Fade In 12". Can you pick one that you would be happy to use each time you want to fade in some music? Polls are often not too successful, but I wonder if it would be worth having one for this, and maybe even asking on the -users list? Gale

Re: AGC - Automatic Gain Control
Well I suppose you could add a distortion control if that's what is needed... Why not include a distortion effect? I doubt that many users would think of looking at an AGC effect if they want distortion. They are far more likely to look for (and not find) a distortion effect. Politics. AGC with int...

Re: AGC - Automatic Gain Control
Here's a bad recording: bad-recording.wav Try AGC with default settings and you will notice that the "background" noise is greatly amplified. The "background noise peak level is around -20 dB, so set the Squelch to -18 dB (a little above the noise floor). The background noise is not ...
