Re: How to see the details of wav file?

One more question. If I export a 16bit 22KHz PCM WAV file to 8bit 22KHz PCM WAV file the bit rate changes. Right? For WAV files, the bit rate = (bit depth) x (sample rate) x (number of channels). So for a recording with a 44100 Hz sample rate, 2 channels (stereo) and 16-bit depth: 44100 x 2 x 16 = ...

...for "Start" and 11.836 s for "End", and Find Zero Crossings... I'm going to have to lie down for a minute. I just duplicated the track. Edit > Duplicate. Slide the new track to the right with the Time Shift Tool (two sideways black arrows) and play it. No matter where you sli...

Cheating :) The two halves of the original are not quite the same. Yours is a little smoother at the turnover point though.

Re: need help from a pro

Yes, I was typing while Koz was, and agree the transition at the end is too short compared to the one in the middle (between the two phrases). If I was doing it I would zoom in, Edit > Find Zero Crossings, delete the first 7 milliseconds of silence then File > Export as WAV. File > Import > Audio......

Re: How to see the details of wav file?

Hello! when I open a wav file in Audacity, I want to know how to know the details of the wav file. how can I see the properties of the wav file opened in audacity? i.e., I want to know Sampling Rate, 8-bit PCM like that. How to find those things? You only get very limited information, mono or stere...

Re: Error Message 2

Now when I try to re-open the project, I get the same error message. How do I get the aup.bak to point permanently to the correct location? I hope you have now saved the data you recovered to a new AUP file; please tell us if that is what you did. If you opened the AUP and imported the recovered fi...

Re: no multichannel recording after firewire board crash

Are you sure you have got Windows and Audacity settings exactly as they were, for example the Presonus is the default Windows recording device and Audacity host in Device Toolbar is Windows DirectSound? DirectSound is more likely to produce multi-channel audio than MME. If that does not help you cou...

Re: Detecting occurences of a sound

I was confused for a minute because I could have sworn it was me who had suggested putting a spectrogram preferences item in the track dropdown (as opposed to the Tracks menu). Maybe I intended to but didn't get around to it. I was going to suggest putting it there because I'd like to be able to ha...

Re: Installed 2.0.2 but hangs - CPU pegged at 99%

Looks like it's fixed. I followed your instructions, updating my windows audio properties to use my sound card (Realtek AC97 Audio) for both recording and playback, and resetting the cfg file. After reboot, I ran Audacity and got the same partially-drawn windows and pegged CPU. Following your logic...
