Re: Best way to move some labels to another label track
I just did some experimentation and see what you mean about cut&paste and overlap OP said "overwrite" rather than overlap, so we'll have to wait for OP's reply. But apart from the paste result looking confusing if you paste inside existing labels (or you aren't zoomed in), did you fin...

Re: every new track I edit opens another audacity window
@1983 B-boy, if you stop being angry and tell us why you want 30 or so project windows open, instead of using File > Import Audio, and explain your other gripes in detail, we'll be happy to consider them. But no-one understands what the problem is. Has something changed where you don't want to chang...

Re: Lost all playback sound??
And if you change Audacity playback device to Speakers and take your headphones out? This is just for testing in Audacity, I know you can hear the speakers in other programs. Can you also click Help > Audio Device Info in Audacity, right-click > Select All, right-click > Copy, press the Code button ...

Re: Extend "Play one second"?
It may be worth trying to compile Audacity. Changing the 0.5 seconds either side of the pointer is a very simple change if you don't want to add a preference to change it. It's tempting. I see it in Menus.cpp: GetControlToolBar()->PlayPlayRegion(pos - 0.5, pos + 0.5); I see from http://wiki.audacit...

Re: Is this called a crashed file?
I would read it that the USB stream has seized up.
If you are still on the default "Audio to buffer" of 100 ms in the Audacity Recording Preferences, try increasing it.

Re: Trouble with audacity
Check that Transport > Sound Activated Recording (on/off) is not checked (ticked). If it is, click it to uncheck it. Is it a USB cassette recorder? If so, make sure it is connected to a spare USB port on the computer, not to a USB hub which allows multiple USB devices to connect to the computer. Gale

Re: Getting a click track to record stop
The usual reason you see this "Latency problem" message is when all these three conditions are true: You are recording with a track already present (for example, a click track) You have Transport > Overdub (on/off) enabled (checked), which causes the recorded track to be pushed backwards b...

Re: Best way to move some labels to another label track
I've got three long label tracks full of labels and I'd like to merge them into one. I can copy and paste sections of them from track to track, but it will overwrite any already there. What do you mean by overwrite? Have you dragged the label track down to see all the labels? See below for the one ...

Re: trouble importing converted CD files to Audacity
Open CDex and press F4 to open Settings. Choose the second "Filenames" tab. Look in the text boxes. The box "Recorded Tracks" is where it saves extracted WAV files.
