Re: one channel weird level - Win 7

When recording from stereo mix, one channel is lower level and has a weird beginning waveform - see image. All balance controls on Realtek HD audio manager and windows mixer is middle. Windows 7 Audacity 2.0.2 i7 processor with 32g RAM Intel mb with Realtek HD audio Correct the audio drivers, repla...

Re: new to this forum - new to Windows 8 - can't record

I just bought a Windows 8 HP yesterday. I am trying to set up Audacity. The input device and input channels pull down menus are completely blank. I've checked my drivers. They seem to be up to date and they are 64 bit. So I've checked my recording devices tab. There are only 2 options, microphone a...

Re: Encoding to G.711 u-law

Converted tracks to Mono, Project rate set to 8000Hz, can't find somewhere to set Sample size to 8bit, but have "Set Sample Format" to 16bit PCM. File > Export... . Choose "Other Uncompressed Files". Click the "Options..." button. Choose "WAV (Microsoft)" hea...

Re: New Fade Effects (poll)

Because you have repeatedly said that multiple envelope points would overcomplicate Adjustable Fade. To add multiple envelope points in addition to the current features would (obviously) make the effect more complex. However, do we really need all of the features of an "Adjustable Fade" i...

Re: New Fade Effects (poll)

I think Text Envelope may now be hard to argue for as a shipped effect Why is that? Because you have repeatedly said that multiple envelope points would overcomplicate Adjustable Fade. I am not totally sure I agree, but I gave in to that, partly because it would be more useful IMO to improve access...

Re: Adjustable Fade

My preferred version is not 25f. I have said I like the order of controls in #30. My concern is the lack of fade types in #30.

Re: Audacity Very Slow To Startup

Hi Singtoh, You get still get a lot of "ALSA lib pcm_dsnoop.c:612:(snd_pcm_dsnoop_open) unable to open slave" entries, it just seems that doesn't cause such a hold up as before. I don't get those messages on 12.10, but that 12.10 was a fresh ISO install. Was yours an inplace upgrade over 1...

Re: Recording Guitar at same time as a mp3 plays?

I guess I can just import say an mp3 or audio file for a song, then in audacity play that track while recording the guitar track, then I have to figure out how to sync the two up That is the best way. See here for how to sync the tracks manually or automatically: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/ma...

Re: Updating Sound/Silence Finder

Can you post links to the old topics discussing Sound Finder and Silence Finder?

I seem to recall we got a long way with a new Sound Finder. I didn't think that was a complete dead end?

Re: Audacity Very Slow To Startup

On Ubuntu 12.10 64-bit (2.4 GHz, 6 GB RAM dual core, not SSD) Audacity launches in a couple of seconds without the dmix slave messages: ALSA lib pcm.c:2217:(snd_pcm_open_noupdate) Unknown PCM cards.pcm.rear ALSA lib pcm.c:2217:(snd_pcm_open_noupdate) Unknown PCM cards.pcm.center_lfe ALSA lib pcm.c:2...
