Re: windows 8 - which version?
Does anyone have any experience comparing audacity performance under 32 bit compared to 64 bit windows 8 (or windows 7). If you choose 64-bit Windows 7 or 8, you need more RAM just to run Windows. For working on LP-length projects we actually recommend the same RAM (4 GB) on 32-bit or 64-bit Window...

Re: Adjustable Fade
The ready curves give a beginner the confidence of some better known names which they know will produce the stated shape. We need to be a bit careful here because some "better known names" may still not be "familiar names" and may not be what they seem. OK, but even then that is...

Re: Move multiple labels in label track
Have you read http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/label_tracks.html#Editing_labels ? There isn't yet a way to move a group of labels along with the mouse. The best thing to have done would have been to enable Tracks > Sync-Lock Tracks before inserting the audio, which would have shifted the labels ...
Re: Splitting
That seems pretty labor intensive. I can separate tracks manually in iTunes. Maybe Audacity is not the right program to do this with. I was under the false impression that Audacity would split the tracks automatically for me. Do you mean while recording, when it detects a silence? That's a Feature ...

Re: Adjustable Fade
I think that we could perhaps go back to "Mid Fade Adjust" but we lose the ability to compare the curvature with a linear fade. Would that make it harder to describe/document? As a naive fade user I have no problem with a slider that "adjusts" up or down the "curve" th...

Re: Adjustable Fade
Furthermore I'm struggling to understand why you say you need more preset curves. The choice between just the two shapes is one of the thingshat makes 30b so delightfully straightforward - but still capable of yielding powerful results. As an example I tested using a 5-second generated sound wave s...

Re: New Fade Effects (poll)
We do have to be careful about removing Cross Fade In and Out, not because they are very useful for cross fading but because they are a long established feature that for all we know people may be using and liking. Please listen to these two samples. Would you say that the fade out of one is noticea...

Re: New Fade Effects (poll)
And given how hard it also is to get released stuff improved and re-released, we should try to get this as good as possible IMO. I completely agree that we should never release shoddy work, but I think this plug-in is far from shoddy. I am not calling it "shoddy" - you know none of your w...
