Re: low volume distorted recordings
Macs do not allow direct recording of audio as it plays on the sound card. See here http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/tutorial_recording_computer_playback_on_mac.html . If you want part of an MP3 in Audacity, why not use File > Import > Audio, select the part you want, then File > Remove Audio > ...

Re: Opening audio in Audacity?
What format is the file in (the three letters after the dot (period) at the end of the file name)? What length does Windows say the file is (right-click over it > Properties)? You may need to download FFmpeg, which makes it possible to import and export more formats. See here http://manual.audacityt...

Re: Hype cassette converter problem[SOLVED]
Remove the USB 3D device. If you haven't already, go through all the steps here http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/USB_turntables#trouble including rebooting the computer. After reboot, what is the Hype called on the "Recording" tab of "Sound" in Windows? Can Audacity see that sam...

Re: Recover Files _data
Drag the AUP file and data folder off the pen drive into the same folder on the hard drive of the new computer. Use File > Open, then choose the AUP file which you dragged off the pen drive. Are you using Audacity in English but speak another language? If you want to change the language, see here ht...

Re: per application recording

Re: New track slipping in all my project files!!
Did you have the affected projects open at the same time in different Audacity windows? Audacity saves its projects in 1 MB sized chunks of data. The most likely explanation is that (due to a bug) Audacity copied some of the chunks to different projects. If so, the 1.2 recovery tools are going to re...

Re: Rank beginner-split tracks?
All "Cut Lines" does is put a vertical line in the track where you have used the Cut command. Clicking the cut line restores the cut audio. Audacity cannot tell where the "join" between different sounds is unless there is some silence or low level audio between them. If that is t...

Re: Win7: MME /vs/ Windows DirectSound?
I have Win 7 64 bit on a pretty fast machine using the latest Audacity. I find that MME gives me better performance (and somewhat better sound) over Direct Sound. Of course I had to tweak the latency when I first installed it, but it's fine and I see no reason to change. Am I missing something? if ...
