Re: Download Help Manual Locally?
Max OS 10.4.11, downloaded from the dmg Sorry to ask the newbiest of questions, but I simply would like to have the manual available on my hard drive locally rather than having to have Firefox or a browser open while I'm working. I just downloaded Audacity 2.0.2 last night and the "How to Get ...

Re: Set Trim selection MP3?
To repeat my two replies to you on [email protected]... Press [ on your keyboard when playing to set the start of the selection. Press ] on your keyboard when you hear the point for the end of the selection, which will then create the selection. You can then use Cut (which removes the selection) or Trim (wh...

Re: Cannot get 2 tracks for respective 2 imported for crossf
Cannot get 2 tracks for respective 2 audio files to be imported for cross fading. a) When I import the no 1 file, i occupies in normal way the 2 two stereo tracks for it. b) When I import the the no 2 file, it "eats up" & replaces the no 1 file. It doesn't. If you use File > Import > ...

Re: SACD format
If you want 1-bit DSD at 2.8224 MHz sample rate, Audacity does not support this.
This would not increase the quality of the Linn files even if you could achieve it.
Can you burn these Linn files to a data CD or data DVD and play those discs, which would preserve the quality?

Re: Crash!
But any advice on recovering a cleaner copy of my crashed data? Not really. If this was a stereo recording you must choose 2 channels in the recovery utility. If you had edited the files, the order they are recovered in will probably not be correct and you may get too much audio including the parts...

Re: Peak Limiter
Amplify will result in clipping at 0 dB. Yes I know at 16-bit your Brickwall Limiter is superior to an Amplify by an equivalent amount that took the level over 0 dB (if you allowed clipping). "Visually", it doesn't appear superior to Amplify at 32-bit float if you look above +/-1. I was m...

Re: Only right channel is recording
Does it matter? All you were doing before was recording in mono and duplicating the mono to left and right, correct?

Re: low volume distorted recordings
you can't record directly from another program that is playing sounds on the same computer. What Apple doesn't allow is a stereo mix input like on Windows which can capture audio already playing on the sound card. Some programs on Mac (Soundflower and Audio Hijack but not Audacity) can grab the aud...

Re: How to retrieve .aup data
Are your students using the latest Audacity 2.0.2? See Audacity > About Audacity. Older 1.3 versions may not recover projects properly from crashes. If your student does not recover all the audio data that they had before, then the best course is to open Help > Show Log... and look for data errors. ...
