Re: System sound crashes on Audacity start

Thanks for the update. Please keep in touch about what happens if you proceed with another version of PortAudio. Am I correct the only virtual scenario where Audacity works with Audigy is virtual WIndows XP? I'd been told PlayOnLinux used Linux-like file paths, so thanks for giving the path you had....

Re: SACD format

I have to use a PC connected to the PC-input of the player What exactly is that input? Does the Marantz have "digital in"? If so, what format does that support? Yes it has a coaxial and optical digital in - see here http://www.marantz.co.uk/uk/Products/Pages/ProductDetails.aspx?CatId=HiFi...

Re: SACD format

What does it mean exactly: Quite likely, but one of the test files is 5:1 so that won't be suitable for audio CD. It means one of the test files you linked to on http://www.linnrecords.com/linn-downloads-testfiles.aspx is "24bit 88.2kHz 5.1 Surround Free Lossless Audio Codec*. It means there a...

Re: Can't record from cassette player

Good, I'll mark this "Solved" then.

Also check what I said about not using a USB hub.

Re: All Audio Behind Zero

Damn .. I was about to propose marriage Gale, ion sheer unabashed gratitude You might have regretted it, I'm male as I assume you are :D , but sadly it didn't work. Sound Activated Recording wasn't checked ... in fact, the only thing checked under Transport was overdub, which I promptly unchecked ....

Re: seting up audacity for speaker selection

Try clicking Transport > Rescan Audio Devices in Audacity, then choosing "Microsoft Sound Mapper - Output" should use the USB headphones, given they seem to be the default playback device. You need to make this output selection in Device Toolbar in Audacity. You can also explicitly choose ...

Re: All Audio Behind Zero

Turn off Transport > Sound Activated Recording, so that it does not have a check mark by it.

Reboot the computer if the Audacity recording cursor is still stuck.

Re: Re-downloaded audacity and now it records differently

You'll need to say more about what device you are recording with and how it is connected to the computer. Wear headphones, if you aren't already. Don't record from the built-in mic. If you are using a mixer, connect "CD/Tape out", "Main output" or the "Alt 3/4" output f...

Re: dBlue Glitch VST now works* in Audacity

Thanks, Trebor. Agreed that alI the effects work if you click those panels underneath "Choose effect".

It actually still crashes in 1.3.8 (the first version that supported VST GUI), but works in 1.3.9. I updated the Wiki. Thanks for the report.
