Re: How to move the editing cursor during playback?
No, sorry this is one thing that changed in the 1.3 / 2.0 series. Most people user CTRL + M to add a label at the current playback position. If you want to, you can also press [ while playing to move the editing cursor to the current playback position. ] draws a selection region during playback betw...

Re: No mic input
For programs that cannot choose their audio input, you will need to go to "Sound" in Windows http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Mixer_Toolbar_Issues#vistacp and choose which of your mics you want to be system default (right-click over a device to make it default). Programs that cannot choos...

Re: voicemail echo recording
Repeating my reply to you on [email protected] e-mail. Software Playthrough causes an echo if you are recording from "stereo mix" or other input meant to record computer playback. If you are recording voicemail located on some external device, you can connect from headphones out of that device to ...
Re: exporting
I have a mac osx it is 10.7. my audacity is 2.0. How do i open an Audacity file in garageband?? You don't. Audacity projects (AUP) are only for Audacity. To use your work in GarageBand, use File > Export... and choose AIFF 16-bit or WAV 16-bit. See http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/audacity_proj...

Re: install audacity help files locally
Builds offered by Linux repositories are provided by Ubuntu, not Audacity. There is no issue I'm aware of. The Ubuntu PPA packages (currently 2.0.3-alpha) at https://launchpad.net/~audacity-team/+archive/daily find the Manual for me if placed in /usr/share/audacity on Ubuntu 12.04 "Precise"...

Re: Gain and balance don't work!
I tried to adjust the recording from the Audacity control panel. The gain and balance simply have no effect! The sliders slide up and down but the wave form on the screen does not amplify nor does the recorded balance between the left and right channels. The Track Control Panels are for adjusting g...

Re: Professional sounding fade out.
I don't know where the topic for Musical Fade In has gone now. It's still there but its on the second page right now http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=68845 Actually it's coming rapidly up to the time that this would get transferred to Wiki>PFR - but I suspect that I shouldn't ...

Re: Professional sounding fade out.
Is there a way to fade in that brings low-frequencies faster? That could be Studio Fade In, but I think Steve feels people have a variety of requirements from a fade in and that it would be better if the one-click-musical-fade-in to be applied could be chosen in a configuration tool. Did you vote f...

Re: Audacity Won't Launch/Open
Before you can rename the file extension, you must be able to see the file extension. Click here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/865219 to make sure you have "hide file extensions for known file types" unchecked.

Re: Audacity Won't Launch/Open
The New .cfg you are having me put in doesn't download or get to my computer as a CFG file, it stays as a Note/Text Document. We cannot attach .cfg files on the Forum for security reasons. That is why my instructions http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=201411#p201411 said (in two places) ...
