Re: Wish: Update ffmpeg import from version 0.6 to 1.1 or la
We can add your vote, but basically we do want to update to FFmpeg 1.x. However FFmpeg dynamic loading from Preferences is constrained by the fact that changes in later FFmpeg versions require considerable coding changes in Audacity. Also any FFmpeg version update has the potential to require yet mo...

Re: impossible to import WAV file 7.04 GB
Standard WAV files are maximum 4 GB, and in practice a lot of software cannot read WAV files larger than 2 GB. How did you create this file? Did you export it from Audacity? It will be difficult to split or convert this file because it is invalid, so conversion or split programs will not read it, or...

Re: Audacity file folder is full and I can't empty
I can't seem to clear the Audacity temporary directory because File > Close gives me a greyed out Close. Can anyone suggest exactly how I can go about clearing the Audacity temporary directory? Press the yellow Stop button. If that doesn't help, Audacity > Quit Audacity and decide if you want to Sa...

Re: Recording via Line In gets clipped at low level
This "half-volume" issue is the same problem Audacity often has when you record into only one input of a dual Left / Right pair of inputs on an external interface. I'm not sure if you would call it a driver issue if the plug at the end of your cable is stereo. Perhaps it could even indicat...

Re: Keeping Temp files longer or autosave feature
The way to better recover the data if saying don't save changes when you meant to save, is to already have saved a project. In that case, all that is discarded are the changes since the last project save. If you want some way of saying "save" when you said "don't save", then I th...

Re: Keeping Temp files longer or autosave feature
if you want to save all of the temp data, use "Save As" from the file menu as your first step. You will then have a _data folder for the project that you can copy as and when you want to. Note that the recommended procedure if you want to have backups of projects (for example the project ...

Re: Keeping Temp files longer or autosave feature
Yes, saving the project (answering "Yes" to "Save Changes?") moves the autosave temporary project file over to the AUP project file (deleting the autosave file) and moves the temporary data to the _data folder for the project. So, saving the AUP project clears the temp folder, bu...

Re: Ends of tracks truncated when exported. Why?
Tried that Steve, thanks. However the option was off. I have turned down the activation level to minimum, just in case that helps. If Sound Activated Recording is off, the level is irrelevant. Is the problem with truncation when recording, or only in the exported file? If only in the exported file,...

Re: Audacity file folder is full and I can't empty
If Mac was telling you the drive is full, that's it. You have to free up space. The autosave error comes from Audacity. Look at Audacity > Preferences: Directories to see how much space there is in the drive holding the Audacity temporary directory. If the problem is that you have been running Audac...
